Steel flew head long into the upper brush, heedless to the danger he was fast approaching. Though he appeared focused on his task, he was distracted. "What would she think of me?" , "What if her pet rabbit doesn't like me?" , "Is it even okay to date somepony so pure?" Thoughts like these flooded Steel's mind, so he just kept flying.

"Why do you say that dear? Things are going to either one way or the other, but either way Steel's getting hinched, even he deserves love." Said Prince looking at Ivy with a worried look.

Ivy looked at the floor "This is true... but i never said that he didn't deserve love..." she protested. She then looked around them “This just looks more trouble then its worth…” she mumbled.

Prince saw that they were getting closer to the swamp. He approached the waters edge, "Hmmmm " He stepped one hoof into the water only to blown back by a 3 headed HYDRA!!! The blue silk skinned beast looked down at the small Alicorn. "Buck!" Prince ignited a small flame on the end of his tail. The beast ignored him and turned to The two Pegasi flying about closer. As the Hydra began swimming towards Steel and Sugar, Prince looked around the bushes and trees., searching for something of great importance.

Sugar Rush turned and saw the Hydra "hu -h-Hy-HYDRA" she flew away from it, "and I thought the Phoenixes was bad" she said to no one in particular but herself

Ivy looked startled at the Hydra "Well that great!" she mumbled. She dart along the bushs staying hiden. Every so often the hydra would look at the moving bushs, she smiled as it slowed the monster down.

Steel beheld the creature. "Oh this is bad. Lady Rush, take cover!" Steel readied himself. No more running, no more avoiding, this is what his cutie-mark was for. With the quick downward swipe of his wings, the scabbards carrying his swords opened. Another flap and he swept the weapons from their holdings. He now wielded upon his large wings, the custom cavalry sabres commissioned by his friend and mentor, Fancypants. They flashed in the sunlight with each flap of Steel's wings. As the Hydra approached Steel closed his eyes and prayed. "Princess Celestia light my way and guide my blades. Princess Luna shield me in the shadows." Opening his eyes, Steel cried to his foe. "FOR EQUESTRIAAAAAAAAAA!"

Steel dove toward the Hydra's heads, but made no move to attack. Instead he weaved in and out of the writhing mass of serpents. The first three strikes were clean misses.

"Ivy! Make sure they don't go too far away!!" Prince yelled. The Hydra fired jets of water at them. Barely missing but having enough force to knock Anypony out. Prince watched in anxiety "Don't die out there." he thought to himself. After searching for a few seconds more, he looked under a bush to find a golden Phoinex along with a very scared pony. "We met again flutters..."

{{Fluttershy! You! I mean! She! . . . Well played my friend, well played.}}

 

When the beast slowed it's thrashing, Steel closed in on it's body. Corkscrewing to the side, he slashed across the Hydra's scaly hide. He left a deep gash. Steel made a wide bank and came in for another attack.

Ivy crawed back to Prince "Can't he show love to the hydra" she paused. She looked at him "Oh you found her!"

Hearing Ivy out of the corner of his ear, Steel quipped. "Why does everypony think that if you just smile and hug something it WON'T rip you to shreds? I swear if they only knew the kinds of things we keep them safe from!"

Sugar Rush appeared behind him, to lend him a hoof with the hydra, she chuckled at what he said "well it seems to work for Flutters, no?" she chuckled trying to pretend the giant hydra wasn't there

"Rush?! What are you doing? WHOAH!" He narrowly dodged one of the Hydra's heads. "Look, Phoenixes are one thing, but there's no way to pacify a hydra. The only way to stop it is to get to it's body and whatever you do, DON'T cut off the heads!" He instructed.

Fluttershy flew in and stared straight at the Hydra.

"You better be nice, mister!"

She flapped her wings and looked around.

"Oh! I know why you were being so grumpy, you poor hydra!"

She flew to one of it's many heads and pulled a thorn from the side of it's neck.

"There. All better."

She smiled as the hydra calmed down.

"No need to be so grumpy, now is there?"

She patted one of it's heads calmly.

"Be nice now, mister hydra. No one likes a grumpy pants!"

Fluttershy giggled and flew back down to the ground, smiling brightly.

"Only like Fluttershy can" laughed Prince. "Steel my friend, I've lead you as far as i can, now you have to take it up a notch."

"But, but, but, but, wha- wha- what do I say? Won't she be scared?" Steel felt like grabbing a cloud and hiding behind it as he saw the beautiful and saintly mare calm the raging beast with her words.

"Its all been leading up to this my friend" Prince nudged Fluttershy infront of him "The only i can say is don't get any more scared than she is"

Steel stared at the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen in his life. His eyes could not be divorced from her, but her gaze held such apprehension towards him. He'd dreaded this moment. Swallowing hard, he finally spoke. "Uhuhuhuh Nice to meet you, m'lady. I'm Captain Steel Accord." He tried to sound confident but non threatening and it came off awkward.
