Opinions of OCs colored like this

I have two OCs and I love them and plan to RP with them, but am worried they won't be accepted

 

I could and plan on adding cutie marks to their flanks.

But as far as appearances go, would these be ok?

The designs could work, but you need to make it a stage thing. Since they're both musicians, there are actual reasons that they might dye their coats and wings like that.

I have to admit, the appearances are a bit of a hard sell. They are very much different from the color schemes seen in the show, especially Oskar. These certainly make your characters unique, but they also need a thorough explanation as to why they look the way they do, because it certainly wouldn't be considered normal in Equestria. Most ponies have 2 or 3 colors, with the body mainly being one color and the mane being an accent color.

 

I can understand what you are doing with BlueJay, as she does indeed look like a blue jay. honestly she kinda looks like a zebra/pegasus hybrid, especially with the black and white hair. it is strange that her body is blue but her head and hooves are white. One way you could work around this is to either a- say her body is blue and she wears a white "wrestling mask" and "socks" or b- say her body is white and she wears a blue leotard similar to the wonderbolts. either way, you would need to make it obvious what is her natural coat color and what is "clothing", and you would need to explain why she wears said clothing. I'm not really sure about the brown accents either. some tweaking of the color scheme may still be required. The overall mane and tail design are pretty cool though, so you can probably keep that the same.

 

Oskar is a little more tricky. I like her mane and tail, but the color scheme is all over the place. The rainbow-ish middle section doesn't really make sense to me. We have seen multicolored rainbow manes, but not really coat colors. also there is a problem with the cream legs and red hooves and head. This is what I suggest: let's say her coat color is actually that cream color, and instead of red hooves, she wears red shoes or short red socks, on her body you can keep the brown spots because they would look good against the cream body. as far as the rainbow colors, perhaps she wears a similar colored scarf or other accessory. The head would also be cream colored, but maybe she could have a red earing, or perhaps "blushing" cheeks. You could also try having a mainly red body, but you would need to adjust the color of the spots for it to work, and also you would have to tread carefully (red and black OC).

 

Feel free to take my advice with a grain of salt. the most important thing to remember is that these are your characters, not anybody else's. If your OC has a compelling story behind who they are and why they look the way they do, I bet it will be accepted.

Oskar was actually my first animal inspired pony. They are colored after a type of fish (which i swear i wouldn't remember my own name if i didn't hear it all the time)... Was thinking of making it like a different original species, but don't have enough story in mind for it personally other than i like the colors.

 

I like that for BlueJay I'll draw something to make it more obvious to see how i feel about it and have the wings and face be paint/dye
For Oskar it could be like a vest or shirt of some sort or even a cloak.

I know what you mean about red and black... tho I feel since i'm not really running in the edgey type direction it could be ok?

I wouldn't want that design, but everyone is different and thats why roleplaying is interesting lol. It reminds me of Kabuki
