A bat's shadow RP (1x1 Rp w/ Maple Bat)

Shadow nodded and said as he stepped in, "Thank you, and it's okay, I've dealt with a few timid ones." He looked around to see a lot of animals and things for them. He crafted a chair made of his shadow and said as he sat down on it, "Well, my ability is shadow and portal manipulation. I can use anyone and anything's shadow for anything and make them into anything to my imagination, as long as it says part of the shadow and there is a shadow. Also my ability to make fog, but I don't think that is the cause of it since I rarely use it."

Discord pondered this for a moment "Well that makes a bit more sense." He said "Shadow Based magic. It's like sombra's I think as it is dark in nature it tends to disturb the balance of things when used in large amounts like for example me doing this" he then stretched his arm over to maple's chair touched it and it started moving around quickly, So quickly maple fell off it "Doesn't do much to harm the balance of things" He continued while reversing his magical effect on the chair "Where as doing something like turning all of ponyville into an art painting would really mess things up."

Maple had put the chair back where it was originally "Dad you said you wouldn't do that anymore."

Discord started to laugh "Sorry but I just couldn't help it."

Shadow nodded and was trying not to laugh. He said as he pulled out his bottle, "So you're saying, if I got it correctly, that since I'm using my ability too much, it's causing a disturbance, and didn't Sombra and his magic go dark when he tried a dark spell and it corrupted him into a tyrant?"

"Yes you got it!" he said as confetti started raining from seemingly no where "Well mostly, Sombra's magic was crystal magic and when it turned evil and corrupted most of the crystals in the crystal empire it really knocked things out of whack."

"Well from what I've seen him do it shouldn't be that drastic the only thing  I've seen him do is just minor portals and such." Maple chimed in "However he did once transport a large group of ponies with his portals."

"Well that depends on what those ponies did after that." Discord replied " What did they do?"

Shadow brushed the confetti off of him and said as he shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know exactly, I was working a job where this pony want them out of a place, and I dragged them through the portal. Once I was done, I closed the portal and went to get my payment. I didn't really care what they did after that."

"Ohh a mercenary type" When he said that Discord put on a mask that made him look like a stereotypical bandit "Doesn't care what happens as long as you get payed yea?"

"Perhaps those ponies did something really terrible." Maple said "that would make your magic technically dark magic thus throwing off balance. Where where they when you picked them up for the teleport?"

Shadow rolled his eyes and said as he took a gulp, "Mercenary is a small part, I'm what I call hired help. They hire me for anything and I do it. That might include me taking care of foals or cooking to taking somepony out. Where I got then was just a random building in a forest." He felt a chill up his spine. He looked into his bottle and pulled a glass out of a portal. He poured some of it into the glass and saw that it was a different shade of green than the last one.

"That could possible explain it" Maple began "Do you remember any of their faces? I would no if one of them was up to no good. Anything you know could be helpf-"

"Oh come on Maple." Discord interrupted "Don't bother our guest too much with these questions. Also I may call on you at some point.."

"umm... not to be a bother or anything but Maple has a good point but discord does too." Fluttershy quietly added "I think we should only answer a few more questions and then leave him alone about it i...if everyponys ok with it I mean

Shadow shook his head and said, "I'm sorry, but I see faces every day and it was awhile ago, but I just remember that one talking in a language I couldn't understand and tried to cut me with a knife as my back was turned. He ruined my coat, but he was surprised that I was uninjured." He threw the glass of liquid that he poured and the bottle into a portal and muttered, "great, a batch wasted since one of the ingredients was off."

"oh my gosh. that sounds terrible I'm sorry that happened to you." Fluttershy said feeling sorry for him "Do you want me to go fet

"Well what was your reaction to that happening?" Maple asked Intrigued by this new development she shifted around a bit to get more comfortable in the chair

"I bet it was Interesting." Discord said "What in particular did you mean about that batch being wasted was it a potion?"

Shadow shook his head and said as he took his coat off and stretched his metal wings out, "I was surprised and pissed, but also glad that my wings protected me. I walked over and punched him, I might have broken his nose since there was blood and he teleported out while holding his nose.  It's not a potion, it's a really strong drink, and it doesn't have the same potent if the ingredients aren't right. I made more since it was almost empty, but by mixing in the new with the old one, it made the whole this bad."

Discord nodded "Ah that makes sense. The old diluted the new. Its like watering down a drink."

"Wait so you where able to punch someone so hard they bled?" Maple asked him "and did you build those wings or where you born with them?"

Dang she thought that's hard core I'm beginning to see why he could be a threat.

"umm... we have some cider left if you want it mr. shadow" Fluttershy said quite intimidated by what he had just said

Shadow nodded and said to Fluttershy, "I would like some, thanks." He turned to Maple and said, "Actually, when I was little, my wings and claws were real, but in an accident, I lost my front legs and wings. Somepony made me these and taught me how to keep them up with my body. With the punching part, yeah, it probably hurt to get with metal, with the strength of a dragon behind it."

"Wow. I can't imagine how painful that must have been whatever the accident was." Maple said to him "And I didn't notice the metal claws earlier makes more sense now."

"Wouldn't those rust?" Discord asked "Oh you must tell me how you prevent those from rusting, Maple's armor won't polish it's self"

"I told you that you didn't have to do that." Maple said to Discord

"I know but I do it anyways" Discord said back

Fluttershy came back into the room holding to mugs of apple cider "here you go mr. shadow" She said handing one to him "and I brought you one too maple"

Maple took the other one and drank a bit of it "Thanks mom."

Shadow said as he grabbed the mug, "Thanks." He took a gulp and placed it on the table and added, "I honestly don't know, for the first few month, I kept drying them off, but after a job that had me spending a lot of time in water, I notice they don't have any rust on them after the job was done, so I stopped drying them."

"Rust-proof eh." Discord Said back to him "Well I'm surprised I didn't think of that."

"I'm guessing you do a lot of these "Jobs"?" Maple began "Does it matter to you at all the overall intention of the job or just how much you're getting paid?"

Shadow nodded and said, "It's my source of income, and I'm not one to try to figure out their intention unless I have a good reason, also I'm not one to put paying more over other ones that want to hire me."

Discord remembered an earlier encounter with this dragon, something he had forgotten but he had remembered out of the blue He turned towards Maple and said "Maple could I speak with you privately, in your room."

Maple looked at him awkwardly "Ok. I guess." Then they both went into a small opening in the ceiling which lead to Maple's Room

Fluttershy looked at Shadow and then said "so... uh how did you and maple meet?"

Shadow said as he picked up the mug, "Well, I heard a rumor to there was an item in a canyon near to where I was, so I headed there. After a while, I was resting against a rock and she tried to shoot me with an arrow. it hit the rock and startled me. I went to see what it was, and when I was resting, she came out of hiding and I asked her if she tried to shoot me. That's pretty much it." He took a few gulps and placed the mug back on the table.

"oh my... I'm sorry about her behavior." Fluttershy said to him "did she tell you why she shot at you?"

Meanwhile Discord was going to tell Maple about what happened between Shadow, Luna and Himself.

Shadow nodded and said, "Yeah, she told me that she tends to panic around dragons, and her action was okay, my scale would've protected me unless the arrow got underneath them."

 

Once Discord and Maple were in, he closed the door and said as he made it so no one else can hear, "I just remembered an encounter with Shadow. Luna and I were discussing something, I can't remember what exactly is was but, Shadow stepped out of the shadows carrying a box and a big sword. He was covered in blood. He didn't anything, but when luna called for the guards, he dropped the box and took off towards them. I'll admit, he was a bit terrifying with his weapon, but when the guards were on the ground. He drew a small knife and stabbed it through the armor of one that was about to get up, pinning him to the spot, then he walked into the shadows and disappeared as quickly as he appeared. Almost all the guard were seriously injured, but none of them died. Luna opened the box and was surprised or confused, then she hurried to her room with the box. That's all I remember from the encounter."

"oh I can see why she did that now, but it was still mean of her... good to know you weren't in any danger" Fluttershy said "I need to take care of some of the animals would you like to uhh j... join me?"

 

After hearing that story Maple was shocked Hmm He didn't just have a bad run in with Dad and Luna but most of the guard as well. That complicates things further She thought Maybe we should go somewhere else.

"Well that seems pretty brutal. Even if all of them survived. I guess I could go ask Luna what was in the box when it gets late" After he mentioned that she realized that this had to have happened before she became one of the night guards captains as she was never told of any sort of attack.

Shadow nodded and said, "Sure, I'll come help." He gulped the rest of the drink and stood up. He walked into the kitchen and place the mug next to the sink. He walked back into the front room and picked up his coat.

"ok." She said happily, she brought shadow over to some of the animals "I'll go get them some food you can try to patch up some of the hurt ones if you want to."

Maple and Discord came out of Maple's room. When Maple looked over at where Shadow was sitting she noticed he wasn't there anymore nor was Fluttershy, She quickly glanced over and saw shadow over by the animals.

Shadow kneeled next to the animals and started bandaging them up. At first, it was a little slow, but he got better at it. He hasn't had to patch anyone up for a while, so he was out of practice. He stretched his wings to their full extent for a bit, then folded them against his back. as he went back to the animals.
