Sorry if this is in the wrong area, I don't know this place really well. But that is besides the point, I am here to warn you about an issue that none of you should know; there has been a lot of what we call "Grey-accounts" being made on several types of forums and message boards, but the ones that I feel are most pertinent for you to know about; those being several different "Brony" and "Furry" forums and boards.

For those who don't know what a Grey-account is: a Grey-account is a fake account made by a hostile force that is used to destabilize a movement or organization by filling it will hate speech and enough horrible ideals that the people that are actually apart of said movement/organization don't want to associate with "those pony f***king Nazis." So all of the said people leave, and all that's left are these Grey-accounts and the few people in the movement that held those beliefs.

I am going to leave off on some info to help safe-guard yourselves from these Grey-accounts: watch for people using bad/broken English that looks like it is Japanese, Chinese or Russian that has been put through Google Translate.

If you hold these beliefs, do not share that fact info with anyone. If the person or persons you are talking to happen to be a Grey-account, they can use that information to black-mail you for money, information, or your dignity.

Do not follow any suspicious external links, or download anything. These files could infect you with several different types of malware; viruses that can steal you personal data such as Doc files, Odt files, TXT files, banking information, logins and passwords. Or it can spy on you in several different ways such as looking at your desktop and/or controlling it directly (personally I don't want to know what you watch on the types of sites you go to when nobody else is home but that's the Russians for you),  looking through your camera. They can lock your computer and encrypt your files, keep the key to unlock it and recover your files from you until you pay them money (usually in bit-coins,) and even if you pay them, there is no way to know if you would get the decryption key for your files.

The simplest thing you can do to protect yourself is to make physical backups on a USB drive or CD. Take your important files and put them in a archive (any archive type other then a Zip archive) and then save them on a USB drive or a CD. Keep all of those backup archives until said USB drive (or CD-RW) starts to fill up. Don't keep this USB drive plugged in as some ransom-ware will format or encrypt them along with your USB drive. You should make it a routine to backup your files periodically, every week, every two weeks, every month, as long as you do it at a set interval it's good. But you should backup you file (key ones at least,) every two weeks.

If you believe you have been infected with a virus, disconnect any external or remote store devices. And disconnect you computer from you network, whether that be a wireless network or a wired one, and tell anyone else on said network to do the same. And once you're sure your computer is virus free (or you can get access to another secure computer) change any and all passwords on all accounts that you have used, or if you're to lazy to do that, just change the ones you've used in the last month but you really should change them all as the spying may have been going on for longer then just a month.
