Zenoctilles 102 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 I thought I'd just bring up some internal politicking that has been going on with between some of the heavy hitters of the fandom, principally, between former organizers of BronyCon. As you may know, Purple Tinker organized BronyCon and eventually stepped down from its administration following a brief power struggle with the other con's organizers, according to rumors. As for Canterlot Gardens, it's an MLP convention being hosted in Ohio by a few former staffers of BronyCon, and Purple Tinker, upset by their behavior prior to her forced retirement from BronyCon, wants to shut Canterlot Gardens down. Now, you may ask: Where's the proof? Most of this stuff comes from Purple Tinker herself. For example, she wrote a letter to Hasbro urging them to send the organizers of Canterlot Gardens a cease and desist order: http://pastebin.com/PiDEjxjJ Furthermore, Purple Tinker has been vocal on her DeviantArt account, posting her own thoughts on the matter. Since her grudge has received greater attention in the past week, she has deleted her DA account, but Google still has a cached version of one of the blog posts she has made concerning the matter: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:ozTGzjWvDxwJ:purpletinker.deviantart.com/journal/Why-you-shouldn-t-attend-Canterlot-Gardens-301226062+&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us Furthermore, some chat logs between her and some associates have been leaked, revealing the extent of Purple Tinker's grudge against the organizers of Canterlot Gardens: http://pastebin.com/bXP8L7sj http://pastebin.com/ZcX4p738 Now, what is the moral of this story? While Purple Tinker may have reason to be upset at some of her former associates, the truth is, things can get nasty from a political standpoint when you take a hobby way too seriously for your own good. Purple Tinker did little to help her cause by publicizing this so openly and so fiercely, and as result, has become the object of ridicule from fellow bronies over the past week or so. Moral: Don't let ponies rule your life.

Prince Lightning Da Cute 619 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 Too late for me. She could've easily stooped this though! She looks like a pony to look up to actually, I would've to met her. I hope she can come to some census with the others so we can be friends again. I'm the Son of Celestia And when i'm King who else did you think would be Queen? Batbrony 16,055 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 Geez, if I were ever to listen to this Purple Tinker go on a rant about some of these MLP conventions (which it seems she spends wayyyyyy too much of her time doing), all I could really do is give her this look... As Zenoctilles said, this is just a classic example of somepony taking a fandom (and trust me, it can happen with any fandom, not just MLP obviously) wayyyyyyy too seriously. Truly enjoying a show like MLP means striking a healthy balance between enjoying it too much and too little, as well as devoting only a healthy and balanced amount of time to the show, rather than making it your life, and thankfully, it seems that most bronies and pegasisters have achieved this healthy balance. Keep up the great fandom everypony! "You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me, set the dogs on me. Because that's what needs to happen. Because sometimes... cupcakes aren't good enough. Sometimes ponies deserve more. Sometimes ponies deserve to have their faith rewarded... with muffins!!!" -The Muffin Mare
cuteycindyhoney 13,307 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 (edited) I know one thing. Con people ALWAYS take themselves far too seriously. I went to a writer's forum at a con once. It was supposed to be an aid for writers by writers. The four person panel was a joke! If you tried to ask a question, they directed the talk back to their own stories. What it boiled down to was...Their stories were great. All other stories on the internet were trash. They just sat there discussing their own work, and how it was head and shoulders above all others. I walked out on them. PS. I actually have a bit of a following for my work, and they shot me down seriously! Edited May 15, 2012 by cuteycindyhoney Thank you Sparklefan1234!!! Mr. Jaguar 1,403 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 Holy.....shit. That's just......wow, I don't even know where to begin. She's clearly taking this WAY too fucking seriously, it's just a convention, why is she so mad that she got kicked off the organizing crew? She's acting as if it was the most important thing in her entire freaking life.
Senn555 242 September 18, 2012 Share September 18, 2012 (edited) There is *way* more to this story than you think you know, guys. PT's campaign against CG isn't because of a mere "power struggle": when she was Con Chair for BronyCon (January 2012), Nanashi Tanaka (former BronyCon staff) literally stole $800 from her bank account, even though she let him bunk at her place for *free* for several months. Nanashi was brainwashed into hating PT because of Sean and Klisk (also former BronyCon staff), who are generally terrible people, and all three of them wanted complete control over BronyCon. Purple Tinker refused to give BronyCon to them (it was her creation, after all), so they all walked... and then they started nasty rumors about PT (http://purpletinker.deviantart.com/journal/Rumour-control-292821513), including participating in 4Chan hate threads against her because she's transgendered. Now Nanashi, Klisk, and Sean are all the main staff at Canterlot Gardens; but from the recent drama that's going on there now, CANTERLOT GARDENS IS BOUND TO FAIL. Purple Tinker has decided that she wants to make sure the convention runs successfully for the *attendees* (not necessarily the staff), and has been making efforts to ensure CG is a success for the attendees... but Nanashi was recently arrested for an unrelated theft, and Klisk has been lying out in public, presumably in vain attempts to keep negative publicity from reaching CG. All of these postings explain the current situation far better than I can, however. How can this... Ugh, This is just so stupid! How do people like that even become staff members! This is so utterly outrageous! Canterlot Gardens was gonna be a great convention! But if it has people like THAT running the damn thing who knows what the hell is gonna happen! Now i can see why the poor girl is protesting against the damn thing. But we shouldn't just end it. But we certainly shouldn't have people like THAT run it either. Get some real staff members on it. Like Hans.
Senn555 242 October 5, 2012 Share October 5, 2012 So. Canterlot Gardens staff apparently started rumors about PT at the convention, that she was supposedly there with a knife with the intent to murder YellingAtCats (a brony rapper/musician), that she was "arrested" at the con, and that she was on drugs / runs a drug distribution ring (!). All of this is false; she was in Brooklyn the entire weekend of the con (NOT in Strongsville, OH where CG took place), participating in an anti-bullying charity fundraiser. Strongsville police have denied any arrests related to the con: She has now started a petition calling for Hasbro, Equestria LA, and Everfree Northwest to cease association with CG due to slander and defamation of character.
