FluffyGoat13 375 August 12, 2017 Share August 12, 2017 Well, almost all fandoms have this aspect of fanaticism, and to be pretentious, that's part of the definition of fandom. A fandom is "a collective of fans of the same thing", the key word in there being fans. 'Fan' in this context is a shortening of Fanatic, so by definition fans and fandoms are almost certainly going to have an aspect of fanaticism. In a way, fandoms are the internet's counterpart to the tribes and cultures of the real world; and you only need to read a history book to see how fanatical they can get. Fanaticism is an almost inevitable outcome of grouping many people together who like the same thing. Another real world example would be football fans; the hooligans that cause all the fights aren't representative of all the fans, but they are the most noticeable fans out of them all.
