d^_^b 27 September 12, 2017 Share September 12, 2017 (edited) One night, I had a dream that me and my family stopped at a McDonald's knockoff restaurant off the highway, in Canada. The food was bad and they even sold cheapo toys. Then I woke up and realized that I've never encountered any fast food knock-off restaurants here in Canada, the US, or any other Western country. No Mak Dak, Pizza Hat, OFC, or Starf***s. The only knock-off restaurant/outlet that I've ever encountered in my life was Dollibee, which was a knock-off of Jollibee, in the Philippines. And that was 18 years ago! I am aware of the fast food knock-off restaurants and outlets in other, non-Western countries, such as China, Russia, and Iran. Would I try any of their food? No way! But, I have a slight interest in knock-off products from China and other non-Western countries. Brony Number 42 10,069 September 13, 2017 Share September 13, 2017 (edited) That's hilarious. I think Huddle House copied Waffle House. Today I was at a Taco Tick which is a cheap taco place. In college there was a Dunkin Donuts, but they lost or cancelled their franchise and became independent. I stayed at an old Days Inn motel that went independent. It was a dump. It's called, "Milano's". Before, it was another Romeo's restaurant, but after disagreements with the Italian restaurant chain, it became independent. So, in a way, it is a knock-off. Not as much of a knock-off as oMc McDnoald's, facefood or Michael Alone. The food there is still good. I'm not sure there are any ponies here from other, non-English-speaking countries. I understand that this is an English-language forum and I just wanted to hear from ponies who are from those countries and can speak English, if there are any. EpicEnergy 23,214 February 9, 2020 Share February 9, 2020 (edited) I haven't noticed any knockoffs where I live, mainly because I stick to the regular fast food restaurants like McDonald's, Chick-Fil-A, and Wendy's. I'm sure there are plenty around though, I just haven't noticed them yet. Splashee 28,563 March 23, 2020 Share March 23, 2020 In Sweden, we had a restaurant called "Clock" which had the exact same setup as McDonald's. They were competing for a time. I can remember their burgers and fries tasting the exact same as McDonald's. For us children at the time, it was disappointing to eat there as it was like drinking Pepsi instead of Coca-Cola, and you all know that feeling?
