It was a bright day in the streets of Canterlot as a brown Alicorn and his best friend trotted though the bustling market. Ponies were trading, arguing and debating. The Alicorn was part of the Celestian Royal family, one of two in the city. He turned to his best friend, "What kind of cake do you think Sugar Rush will like the best? We have to impress her!" he said with a large smile.

Candy looked at the cakes, she saw chocolate ones. She even saw ones with pink frosting on it. Candy had an idea, and with that her horn glowed a pink colour. By the time she was done the pink icing had moved onto the chocolate cake. She then made a pattern on the cake with her magic. She looked up "To much?"

Prince moved to the baker, "How many bits for that cake?" the merchant was wowed "4!" "Sold!" prince dropped the bits and picked the cake with his magic which glowed golden. Abd trotted away "Nope, it's just enough. Next thing on our list Candy?"

Candy looked at Prince and looked at the list. She smiled "Party gifts"

Suddenly, Out of nowhere came a red and black alicorn. She looked at the ground as if she wasn't trying to look at anybody. "Hello. My name is Liquorice." she said, still looking down. Pause. "What's YOUR name?" she said rudely.

Prince took a stance, his happy face had vanished. He didn't know what to expect from this Alicorn. He didn't think she was part of his royal family so due must be from the other..... He stood infront of Ivy and stood up straight. He stretched his wings so he could make it do she could see he was an Alicorn too. "That's Prince Lightining Flicker of The Celestian Royal Family to you. Now why don't you answer your own question and tell us who you are." he said in a deep voice, talking like he was very agitated.

Oh, um... Liquorice looked up just enough to see Prince's wings and nothing else. " I'm sorry, Lightning Flicker, but I must be going." She walked away, still looking at the ground. "Oh, can you do me a favor and wave your hoof, only your hoof, in front of my face?"

Prince let his wings down a bit. A face of confusion came on his face. "Why... What the?" he thought to himself. He remembered the coomon kindness he was remembered for and decided no harm could came from him doing it. Prince trotted up to her and waved his hoof in her face. He felt kind of weird for doing it at her request but he knew there was a reason behind it. After 3 rotations he put his hoof back on the ground. "Is that good?"

"Yes, thank you." Liquorice trotted the other way and cautiosly lifted her head. Luckily, there was nopony in front of her.

Candy looked at both of them and smiled. She then looked at Prince "We have to get the present!"

Prince's curiosity wasn't going to keep him from this party. "Right! Let's move!-" he said turning around but then turning back to see this mare. "Hope you're ok, see us around my friend." he said trying to be sincere. He turned to Candy, "Next thing on the list?" he asked going back to the shopping.

Candy looked at the list, "We got the cake? So... its pretty much party stuff!"

As Liquorice walked away to the Canymane family castle, she wondered what it would be like if those other two ponies found out her secret. "It would be awkward and horrible", she decided. "I won't be able to bear the embarresment. Those stupid Celestians would have to mind their own buiness." she said aloud. Liquorice walked into the castle, hoping nopony heard her.

"Right let's go!" Prince grabbed Candy's hoof and dashed towards Canterlot castle. As he got in the door he called to Everypony who was in the house. "Hello?"

"my, Liquorice, where on Earth have you been?!," Queen Gumdrop exclaimed.

"Um... I... uh... I went to give those Celestians a piece of my mind!" Liquorice said. She didn't even know why she went out, probably just for a walk. All the excitment cleared her memory a bit. "Oh, well." She thought.

"No, mom. Nopony knows my secret. I didn't look into anyone eyes while I was there." Liquorice didn't tell her mother that she ran into Celestians and almost looked up. The Queen would freak if that really did happen.

Well, go to your room anyway, and stay there until your dressmaker Rarity comes. She's going to fit you a new gown for this years Gala"

"Ugh. The Gala. Mooom! Do I HAVE to go to the Gala this year? I HATE all those snooty families. Not a SINGLE ONE makes candy like us. Aaaand, I hate my Gala dresses. They just aren't simple enough. I don't like flouncy dresses at all. Can't I just skip it this year? Besides, I have a plan to ruin the Celestians' chances of becoming best royal family in Equestria, but I need that whole day! Pleeeease don't make me come!" Liquorice said, hoping the Queen would let her skip the gala.

Candy got taken by Prince. She blinked as they got to the castle. She brushed her self off. She opened the door with her horn and shut it behide her. She looked around the castle "I believe there all out" she stated.

hmmmmm..." Gumdrop mumbled. She thought hard on this, thinking or reasons she had to go. "This is the year that is important, as we have the candy testers coming. You know that this is important. So, you may skip...... Under one condition-Er, no, two. One, you must stay within the castle walls until next week, as the Gala is tomorrow night. And, two, you MUST attend the candy testing, only because you will be old enough to either test the candy, or help direct the making of the candy, next year, and you know that you must do one of the two next year" Gumdrop stated. *quick clopping of hooves* "your Highness, and Princess Liquorice, I have mail," One of the Royal Guards said breathlessly. "okay, well, hand it over," demanded the Queen. He handed the letters to her, and quickly went back to his post by the doors. There were three letters, two for Gumdrop, one for Liquorice. "Here, this is yours."

The Princess took her letter up to her room to read. It was from Prince Lightning Flicker of the Celestian royal family. "Hmmm... Why is the prince of the opposing family sending me mail?" Liquorice wondered aloud. She opened it and read out loud. This is what the post said: "Prince Lightning Flicker hereby invites Princess Liquorice Twist to the Celestian royal family annual get-together as a outside family guest. RSVP directly to Prince Lightning, please. The party will be tomorrow night at 6 o'clock. Thank you." As she read this, all of Liquorice's plans vanished and a new plot popped into her head. "I'll show those Celestians which family is boss, for sure!" Then, her mane and tail went black as well as her coat. Her eyes turned a deep red and she got a maniacal smile. "I hope my mother takes THIS well."

"Hmmm well the party is in alittle bit, so we should get ready." Prince rushed to his room to get his dressings on. How fine he'd look at this party!

"We got until tomorrow to make this pretty, Mother will be proud! I think I've already invited Everypony that's coming so.....set up the tables! We got to get this ready today so we can good tomorrow!" he said with a smile as he left the room.
