GlimGlam was given a bit part, largely because the movie has been on the boards for seasons now, so if you want to play "spot the pony" in the first five minutes or so of the movie, you can... but only for the first five minutes or so. As the movie audience aren't necessarily existing fans, a bunch of the early plot is basically character portraits so you can get to know the main cast; there is a nice song about friendship (because of course there is) and a nod to sparity, but otherwise its meet-the-cast, and not as well done as S1. beyond that, plot holes you can drive a truck though, lots of gratuitous travel just so you can introduce all the new characters (and character races) and big chunks of "buy our playset!" then... the thing with Twilight that everypony considers the biggest flaw in the entire movie. Which isn't to say you shouldn't watch it - seriously, its wonderfully animated, and worth re-watching several times just for the sheer artistic pleasure.
