NewCalamity 3,454 May 23, 2012 Share May 23, 2012 Here's a few important facts off the top of my head: - British invented the tank, were the first nation to deploy them against the German Empire. - Tanks in WWI were largely ineffective as weapons but rather for morale and psychological purposes. It was the first time anyone has ever seen such a large machine rolling around in their lives, scary back then. - Mustard gas, which was used in the war, was first used at the Second Battle of Ypres by the German Empire. If you need anything else just ask me further. 4 Ob's stürmt oder schneit. | Whether it storms or snows. AnonyPoni 564 May 23, 2012 Share May 23, 2012 (edited) Keep in mind that WWI is a perfect example of how technologly evolves faster than tactics. They were trying to stay in trenches, because it makes sence if it takes a minute to load one shot. Now, with machine guns, leaving the trench was a death wish of being mowed down. also, keeping all your soldiers in one area was bad now because of accurate artilary and strafing. led to stalemates and HUGE death tolls Also, the Airplane changed the rules of warfare. Now you needed to control the SKY if you want to live to kill the other guy. At first, they had NO IDEA how to use an airplane for war, but eventualy, the Observation, Fighter, and Bomber evolved on their own. Now you can attack the Heart of the enemy by bombing the citys, factories, and civilains (germany did this to london a lot) This is called being Strategic whoops to late Edited May 23, 2012 by Anony-Brony
