Fghik 360 May 23, 2012 Share May 23, 2012 I've been "on and off" with the whole fanfic thing... I'm quite a crappy writer to be honest, but people keep telling my otherwise. I decided I may as well give it another go. I re-opened my Fimfiction account, and started work on Two new stories. I got about two chapters in on each of them, but then I starting questioning: "Isn't fimfiction getting overloaded with loads and loads of new stuff every minute? Wouldn't my stuff get buried? And how come it's almost always the Google Doc stories that get EqD posts and love from the fans? Would mine get seen more, and be more loved if it were somewhere else? ...But FimFiction is an easy format...and only real gems are noticed there, you can't forget My Little Dashie..." I don't know where the best place to write is anymore... As Fimfiction get's more popular, it get's harder to get things noticed. However Google was already massive, sharing with people would always be just as hard or easy. But the problem with Google is that I'd need to make a new account because I don't want to be promoting my real account as a FiM writer (not quite public about being a brony yet...sorry guys...) Also, in all honesty here, I don't know how to work Google. I can make simple documents and such, but I don't know how to run different chapters, or 'password view' the stories. You're all awesome, so I was wondering what you do. But what do I know? I'm just a stupid kid. ҉ .Eternal ¸.•'´¯Chaos¯´'•.¸Comes¸.•'´¯With¯´'•.¸Chocolate¸.•'´¯Rain ҉
Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,526 May 23, 2012 Founder Share May 23, 2012 You could always try the Internet's classic fan fiction archive, fanfiction.net. I have a few (unfinished) fics up there myself. It's the closest thing to deviantART for fan fiction. It's a much, much larger site than FimFiction, but the size of the place is actually so big that a bunch of small mini-communities have spawned within. I met a few of my first online friends there. You're also more than welcome to post your fan fiction right here on MLP Forums, as text in the body of a post. Using direct-to-post links, you can start a thread for your fic, spread chapters out through different posts, and create a table of contents in the OP. The format isn't ideal, but you might find it much more personal to post your writing here on the forums you're familiar with than looking for a larger third-party site to host it. 1 Avatar credit: robinrain8 Signature credit: Kyoshi

Ezynell 2,037 May 23, 2012 Share May 23, 2012 I prefer FimFiction.net. It was made by us, for us, and has a really nice visual appeal. GAK
zzuxon 16 May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Every fandom should have a website like Fimfiction. It is big. But you can bump by updating. Combine that by publiscizing on other sites, and You're good. FimFiction is just set up nearly perfectly. I have a fic going on on FimFiction.
Hat988 108 May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Posting on Fimfiction, if your story either doesn't get the featured box or isn't shown on Equestria Daily, once it is off the front page that is pretty much the end of it. At the moment, the featured box is pretty much a no-go unless you have a story with sexual innuendo in the title/description for the massive wave of views. Occasionally the programming behind the featured box changes so I would wait until then if you have a story not designed from the ground up to attract attention. When I posted my story, it got the featured box because it was the older version that judged mainly on likes and comments. I found this gave a fairer selection of stories (not just mine, but the other ones on the rotation as well). People can usually judge the better ones so if it is okay it will definitely get a good number of views and likes but I wouldn't expect more than a thousand before it drops off the front page. EqD post stories from Fimfiction too so don't feel restricted to Google Docs if you want to submit there.
Cain 24 May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 I'm in the middle of writing a fanfic too, and I'm going to upload it to Fimfiction once I'm done. Sure, if you don't get featured/bannered you won't get too many views, but if your writing is good enough, and your plot enthralling enough, people will talk about it and watch you, giving you an audience for your next fanfic! That gives me an idea. You could continue to write your story on fimfiction.net, but promote it here and in other forums. I'm sure you could get some recognition that way. After all we have over 3000 members. I'd like to thank the MLP Vector Club for the images used in my avatar. Zhooves 843 May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 I'm using FimFiction for the one fic I'm writing on, and I find that site great! You just need to promote it here and there (Which reminds me that I should do that as well...). 1 So I took this personality-test... And apparently, I'm most like Fluttershy~2015- edit - not too much has changed, but now I'm a wee bit more like Twilight~
