Braeburn 52 December 4, 2011 Share December 4, 2011 People do donate to the site, they're in a special group called "Donors" The mobile version of the site apparently works, lag free, so I have reason to believe that an app for the forums would just be unnecessary work. I know about the donors, can't believe I over looked that *facehoof* And you're right, but if facebook has a useless app (and it does) why shouldn't this site have one as well? And shis is the most stressful time of the year afterall... But again, just a thought.
Scootaloo1 106 December 4, 2011 Share December 4, 2011 And you're right, but if facebook has a useless app (and it does) why shouldn't this site have one as well? Facebook is one of the largest social networking sites available to the internet at this point in time, It's large enough that it has it's own office building filled with devoted programmers to making an app such as that... it wouldn't take them long to make one at all... Mlpforums is also a social networking site, with nearly 500 members, and only three of said members are staff members of the website. Their schedules are fairly busy, and probably don't have enough open spots to create an app for the app market at this time I'm sure that if mlpforums.com reaches a large amount of members, and the demand for it is strong (which it can't be right now, since we have a mobile skin that works just fine for right now) that plans for one might come to mind of the admins. I hope this would help clarify what I meant earlier. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You got a problem with blank flanks? Nico 790 December 4, 2011 Share December 4, 2011 Everypony, there IS an app for this site, as well as any other sites made by IP.Board. Just get the IP.Board app on your phone and you can add this forum to it.
Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,527 December 4, 2011 Founder Share December 4, 2011 IPS, the creator of our forum software, is looking into offering custom white-label apps for their customers. However, I talked to them and they're not sure if it's going to happen, due to the difficulties involved on the customer's in getting an app made and published. For one, an Apple developer account costs $100/year and requires a Mac computer (which I don't have). If they do begin to offer the service in the future, it will be an expensive custom service that we'll probably need to hold a fundraiser for. A third-party company, Tapatalk, currently offers a white-label app solution for IP.Board, but I hate the way they do business and would much rather get a first-party app from the same people who made the forum software itself. Custom development by an in-house programmer or freelancer is also an option, but it would be prohibitively expensive. P.S.: Please post feedback and suggestions in Administration Station.
