Could someone help catch me up??

I don't know exactly if this is the wrong section to post this or not, tell me if it is though.

I've stopped watching the show for the last two years, and evidently a movie got released (idk how I missed that) and there seems to be a lack of news on if there'll be a season 9, far as I can tell. I'm also seeing chatter about us moving to a G5? I'd love someone to help me figure out the news that I've missed.

There is a season 9 but I haven't wacth the show for a very.....VERY......long time. The movie was good, (I Heavily recommend it) and I spend most of time in Canterlot Avenue.
