Spidey10 846 September 4, 2019 Share September 4, 2019 (edited) While I did enjoy the 2017 MLP film overall, I did feel like it was a bit rushed and the pacing was too fast. Usually I'm fine with animated films being around 90-95 minutes, but this is one I actually feel like needed to go beyond that traditional runtime. I'm here to talk about some of the deleted/scrapped scenes from the film and if they could've improved it a bit. There's only one deleted scene on the home video release and that's an added opening narration of Twilight explaining the Elements Of Harmony and The Royal Sisters before you hear Tempest speak and laugh. I'm a bit surprised they cut this because I feel like it would've helped casual moviegoers and non bronies understand the film and the world a bit more. According to an art book about the film, there were supposed to be scenes showing the Mane Six traveling to and exploring a creepy forrest and spend the night at the Hippogriff temple. This would've given the film some time to breathe, give us more great interactions between the characters we love, and show off some really beautiful settings. After Twilight was kidnapped by Tempest, there was supposed to be a scene where Spike and the rest of the Mane 6 are camping and are incredibly upset about their friend's capture. Applejack tries to comfort Spike. This could've been a really good and powerful scene, give Applejack a shining moment in the film (She and Fluttershy lacked that), and once again just give us more of our favorites characters interacting. In the finished film, we see a few members of the Mane Six bonding with the new characters. Twilight bonds with Tempest at the end of the film, Rarity bonds with Capper, Rainbow Dash bonds with Celaeno, and Pinkie Pie with Skystar, but nothing for Spike, Applejack, and Fluttershy though. Apparently Spike was supposed to bond with Gruber, Applejack with Mud Trolls that didn't make the final cut, and Fluttershy with Seaquestria prisoners. Instead of Queen Novo banishing the heroes with the orb, she would've imprisoned them and Fluttershy would've convinced a little fish to break them out. This would've given Fluttershy her big moment beside that one awesome but brief scene where she befriends a Storm Guard. #ReleaseTheCelestiaCut Edited September 4, 2019 by Spidey10
Steve Piranha 29,444 September 26, 2019 Share September 26, 2019 I agree with all that content to appear in the film except for the imprisonment because it’ll hurt any real chance of hippogriffs relations with ponies post movie. The movie would have benefited with the increased run time, or adding those scenes with the DVD release 1 Sig by Discords
