The crisp night air flowing through the fur of Larva made the hairs stand up on end. He could feel goosebumps at the base of his skin, which made him feel alive. His massive wings flapped loudly through the night, cutting through the air like knife to butter. His hawk-like eyes scanned the forest below, looking for his next meal. Being a vampire, he required a specific amount of blood everyday to survive. And today, he has had none. He could feel in the very pits of his stomach the growing hunger of the beast within him, which made him ravenous. Whatever poor creature he would find would receive no mercy.

 

"God help that poor soul" he quietly whispered."

Sugar Rush rested on one of the clouds, as always she prefer sleeping in any random cloud than flying all the way home.

As Larva flew through the sky, he sensed another living being near by. He could feel the mammals heat, hear the mammals breathing. It caused his stomach to growl in anger. He wanted it's sweet flesh. He wanted it's blood. Feeling it near him, he flew upwards toward a cloud.

Sugar Rush continued sleeping completely unaware of the approaching pony

Larva began to fly slower and slower, ever so careful not to wake his pray. He saw it was a little pegasus pony, just easy for the picking. Licking his lips with flavor, Larva creeped ever so closer to the cloud. Once he reached it, he floated just above her and looked down. She was a little cute thing, shame she had to die now. Larva began to whisper a small chant, a binding spell.

 

"Manere aut mori."

Sugar Rush drowsilly opened her eyes. Her ear twitched, she listened closely to hear a mutter of words, she didn't recognize the words, or the voice of the one who said them, which alarmed her more, she tried to open her wings which didn't respond

Larva stayed levitated over the small pony and said,

"If you scream, I will make sure your death is painful and slow."

Sugar Rush nodded her head not sure whether to respond to the mysterious pony. She closed her eyes tightly and hoped that the pony left her alone even though she highly doubted it

Larva stared down at the poor thing, knowing that he would never forget this mares face. He moved in close to her neck, and inhaled a sharp breath to take in her stench.

Sugar Rush opened one of her eyes as the pony got closer to her neck, her mind was racing with thoughts of what this pony was going to do to her know, she couldn't escape since she wasn't the best flyer, and she couldn't scream after the pony's threat, so all she was left to do was to lay there helplessly

Larva then looked around the cloud, and saw it was not the most stable structure in the world. For whatever reason, he did not want the poor mare to hurt, which seemed ironic to him. He carefully picked up her fragile body and outstretched his wings, and began to soar into the air.

Sugar Rush now planned to escape from the pony by flying away, there was a chance she wouldn't go far but maybe she could alarm somepony else of his presence, that was until he picked her up and flew carrying her, she opened her eyes and looked at the ground, avoiding to look above her

Larva flew slowly and steadily, as to not drop her or make her feel uncomfortable. He began to make a slow descent to the forest floor below.

Sugar Rush laid motionless on the ground, she couldn't figure if it was her pure fear that had paralyzed her, or the pony, she moved her eyes to try and get a look at her surroundings

Larva laid the mare flat on her back, and stared at his prey. He wanted the mare to look him in the eyes before she died. A sort of a goodbye gift in his mind. Using his right hoof, he softly touched the bottom of her chin and raised it upwards, so her gaze matched his.

Sugar Rush looked at the pony above her, his hoof had traveled from her chin to her eyes, she looked at him, trying to see if she could recognize anything from him, but nothing came to mind

Larva stared down at the small mare, a pang of guilt in his mind. Did this little mare know she was about to be eaten? While he looked into her eyes, his fangs popped out of his mouth, curved downwards to break into the flesh.

Sugar Rush's eyes widened again, her mind overwhelmed with fear, the intentions of the pony were much clearer as she had seen his fangs, and how they were aiming towards her neck, she felt like screaming but she couldn't, she couldn't move and now she was about to die, so the last thing she could do now was to close her eyes and wait for him to be over

Larva stayed completely still as he stared down at the mare. He was about to take her life. He knew that he had to to survive... but for some reason he couldn't bring himself to do so.

Sugar Rush opened her eyes to take a glimpse at the pony once again, before she waited for her certain death

Larva looked into the Mare's eyes and saw pure terror. In his mind, he had already made his decision. He couldn't eat her. By the time he reached down to touch her mane, the spell on her was broken.

Sugar Rush gasped as she felt her hooves and wings being able to move again, she tried to scoot away from him before she flew away from the pony

Larva smiled as the mare flew away, and descended into the darkness below.

Sugar Rush landed on the ground panting slowly, she looked behind her making sure the pony didn't follow her, she sat down and thought about what had happened, after a few minutes, she just continued to walk towards her home

The shadows under Sugar Rush's feet began to trail off the normality of it, moving far north.
