What if the mane ponies had decided to pursue other things or couldn't have their first choice in career, or maybe just things went very different.

Fluttershy

- animal doctor

- animal whisperer

AppleJack

- Country shows coordinator

- Animal trainer (might use methods fluttershy may not like lol)

- Ranger

 

Rainbow dash

- stunt pony

- athlete

- a trainer

- a survivalist

Rarity

- something to do with grooming 

- an artist

- a interior designer

- a stylist

 

Twilight Sparkle

- a fulltime mage

- a researcher

- a bookstore owner

- a librarian

- a friendship advisor

Well, Pinkie is already a large events coordinator, Fluttershy an animal whisperer, RD an athlete, and Twilight a former librarian and essentially a friendship advisor. 

If they were forced to change professions, I think Pinkie would be a comedian, Fluttershy would be a vet, AJ would do cowpony things, RD would be a trainer (assuming weather coordinating and athletic or military-like Wonderbolts-type stuff are off the table), Rarity would be a stylist or creative type, and Twilight would be a magic researcher of some kind.

Twilight - professional organizer, professor, writer

Rarity - wrestler or cage fighter (Despite how classy she is I think of Rarity as a brawler and I always wanted to write something where she was secretly a masked wrestler)

Pinkie - clown, something foal-care

Applejack - country singer, professional rodeo pony

Fluttershy - forest ranger, animal groomer

\Rainbow Dash - treasure hunter(like Daring Do), ronin
