How different would the course of FIM's story and narrative have been if Sombra was based on this villain?

In the series, Sombra was inspired by and an expy of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings movies and books, but how different would the narrative and course Friendship is Magic be if instead of Sauron, he was based on this villain instead of Sauron? something decidedly more . . . Lovecraftian.
