Often, ponies mistake cutie marks for their special talent, and while this is usually the case, it isn't always true. There is more to a pony's identity than their special talent, and sometimes, a pony's cutie mark focuses on a different part of their identity instead. Because of that, you should see your cutie mark as a reflection of yourself, and not get too bogged down by whether it determines you have a talent for this or that or not, you know," Twinkleshine explained. "However, do you see why taking away a pony's cutie mark would be so problematic here? Because doing so is taking away a part of a pony. It means that they don't know who they are, and it forces them to try to figure themselves out like they did before they got their cutie mark."

"Uh, I hate to break it to you, but plants don't have eyes," Lyra remarked.

"Perhaps you should meet some of my earth pony friends in Ponyville," Twilight suggested. "A lot of them love growing plants and feel like they have a special connection to plants. For example, Applejack runs Sweet Apple Acres, which is a farm known for growing apples. She says ever since she got her cutie mark, she has a special connection to apple trees."

"What do you mean plants capture your imagination? How do they do so?" Lemon Hearts asked.

Oh boy, it’s a hobby that I’ve always kind of known, and when I started to fly kites for the first time, I love how free it feels to fly some thing in the air, there are no boundaries or restrictions to what you can do when given the space, I feel like sometimes they can go so high that I could go to the moon with it. I found it to be a hobby that I’m really good at, it’s very technical and involves a lot of statistics, but after a while, it’s just muscle memory and you can do any trick you want in your mind with such a simple ease. Flying makes me feel like I’m free for my troubles, it was one of the only things I felt like I had some control of a very vulnerable point in my life..”

"Heh, that reminds me of how Rainbow Dash describes the freedom of flying. The feeling of being up in the air, moving in three dimensions, not being bound to the ground... I can see why pegasi love flying, and I suppose you have similar feelings when flying a kite," Twilight replied. 

"Yeah but like, Rainbow is like anything but a statistics pony. Remember when Twilight first introduced us to her friends in Ponyville? And then Rainbow Dash mentioned she was into the Wonderbolts, and Lemon Hearts immediately dove into the statistics of the Wonderbolts?" Twinkleshine asked.

"Oh my gosh yeah! She was like so unamused!" Lyra giggled. The rest of the group laughed in response. 

"Yeah we're all into stats. Feel free to talk about stats with any of us," Lemon Hearts offered.

"Yeah it was strange being friends with somepony who isn't into all the numbers at first, but she brings a different kind of energy to the friendship, and it keeps things interesting that way," Twilight replied.

"I like flying kites. At first, it was because it was something I could do by myself. It felt calming. And even after Twilight reintroduced me to my friends here, I still found flying kites nice. You can fly a kite with somepony else, not really say much, and just enjoy the company of each other," Moondancer replied.
