What was King Sombra like before he was King Sombra?

Do you guys ever wonder what King Sombra was looking before he was King Sombra? I’m not talking about the comics, I’m talking about in the show. I wonder if he was corrupted by darkness like the Pony of Shadows, because Sombra means shadow in Spanish.

He was a member of a kind of ghost like ponies living in places far north than the Crystal empire. I remembered the official commic had some chapters about him and Hope Radiant

I like to think of Sombra as a subspecies of unicorn due to his curved horn, either the same or similar as those of Neippon, like Mistmane and Sable Spirit. Perhaps he was the sole remainder from a noble family with a failing estate and social status, so naturally being a bit of an outcast, he sought success through traveling, seeking knowledge to gain strength. Finally at the edge of the world, he took a keen interest in the Crystal Empire. He initially made a good impression with his prowess and magical skills he'd acquired during his journey, and could've made a name for himself if he hadn't been so cold and dismissive. With no room to rise any higher the traditional route, he would do so by force.

It's like Sunset Shimmer or Starlight Glimmer, only less personal. He simply means business, and he'll gladly do away with the competition play with his food.

He's often compared to Nightmare Moon and given a tragic backstory, but I like to think he's simply bad, because a distinct difference, is while both use fear, she's uses it against those she thinks deserve it, while he seems to do it for the joy of watching others suffer.
