Several other classic shows had a bluray release already, Samurai Jack is another one I watch sometimes.

Yeah, I never thought The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog or Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers would get a Blu-ray release before MLP:FIM, yet here we are. Kinda lame that Shout Studios never bothered to give that show a Blu-ray release despite its success. Signs seem to point towards their contract with Hasbro expiring in 2019 and them not bothering to renew it. When you consider that their first MLP DVD release was Twinkle Wish Adventure (G3.5) in 2009 and the last FIM DVD was released ten years after that, this theory makes sense. Now with the show leaving Netflix for good and the Discovery Family contract expiring, now is a better time than ever for Shout or Discotek to consider obtaining the licensing to release MLP:FIM on Blu-ray to tie in with its 15th anniversary. That would be an immediate day one purchase for me.

I agree, we cannot rely on digital streaming, ever since that fiasco with Discovery leading to mass content removals on PS4, we've been shown all it takes is a license expiration and your library is gone. Hacked accounts or bans for whatever reason prevents access as well. I've always said it the more reliable option is to get the discs if they can, because then you have ownership for personal use, anything else is risky business. I hope we get a 15th anniversary bluray set, it would probably work out cheaper than the DVD's if they released MLP FIM in the same set. I don't trust a reboot either, I mean, what would they do? remove alicorn powers from Twilight Sparkle? no more epic showdowns with Tirek showcasing her mastery of magic? I'm not saying it will happen but sometimes shows end up pandering to nostalgia, instead of character development. Twilight Sparkle becoming a Princess was bound to happen sooner or later, and as it's her duty to protect her kingdom, sometimes that means intense confrontation with an enemy that cannot be reasoned with.

Again, I use my Transformers argument, the reason why so many enjoy the different versions of Transformers is because they always bring something different, yes, the same characters are always there, the same elements like Cybertron always return, but what makes each iteration the franchise different from each other are the concepts, the way the story and characters are written. You want something different but making a G4 reboot doesn't mean that it can't be different from the G4 we know, and just because the story for them wrapped up it doesn't mean they can make a whole a new story with them. I don't know, I'm on the side who prefers to not judge the idea prematurely and want to wait to see what it could deliver, a G4 reboot could be very good and bring a full new generation of fans and even entertain the older ones

And just like I already said, a G4 reboot could very well bring back characters from the early generations, making kinda of a generations crossover but in the format of a reboot, so I don't really understand what's the problem with that when a "G4 reboot" could very well do exactly what you want with the early generation characters.

It's pretty much Hasbro's fault too, they don't try to do anything about these older generations, official uploads on Youtube only center around G4 and G5, merchandise very rarely has something based on G1 and that's it, they don't try to do anything to "modernize" those older generations to make younger fans of G4 and G5 meet them and their characters, these younger people don't care about them because they just weren't properly introduced to them, they are totally in the past with only the older fans who grew up watching them really talking about them, the young fans who like these old generations like you are a exception.

That's why i think it could be a good idea to make a "G4 reboot" with not only characters from G4, but also from G3 and G1 (and maybe G2 too), because that way it could catch the attention of the older fans who watched the older generations, and also the younger audience who reconizes the characters of G4, but not the ones of G1-G3, that could lead to revivals of G1 and G3 with maybe new HD re-releases of the episodes, but the series would need to be good, that's why I say we can't judge the idea so prematurely.

You can disagree, but It's a fact that G4 have a new face for the franchise and it's the most popular MLP thing out there, any new generation that comes out needs to have G4, Transformers can't live withiout Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron etc. Twilight, the Mane Six and a lot of characters of G4 became the Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee of My Little Pony, one of the reasons G5 failed was because of that

So making a G4 reboot with G1-G3 characters is the only way I think it can happen if you really want a G1-G3 reboot to work.

in the G5 comics they gave Discord a fate worse than death as well, Fluttershy passed away, while Discord being immortal was eternally isolated from her, by that time he had already reformed and became a respected friend of Mane Six. After learning this about G5 I can safely say it's not for me, not when character development is completely ignored for the sake of drama.

i understand transformers does that but that does not work with every franchise, picture this: a home alone movie that brings Kevin Harry and marv back but it's its own continuity like at that point just use original characters, we know how the mane six met and got their cutie marks why retell it? ( i'm trying to share my point of view.)

I never talked about "retelling it", I simply talked about rebooting G4, doing this doesn't mean you're going to do the same thing that was done in the G4 we know, you're not going to retell anything, it can be completely different and good, that's what Transformers does, the elements can be the same, but the story always changes, and I've already explained here why a reboot of G4 would be good:

but MLP has not always been a full reboot of a past gen, They have only started doing that recently. (also pony life reused g4 characters and I'm pretty sure that's a reason why People did not like it.)

Also you really sure that using G4 characters was the reason pony life wasn't well received? You sure it wasn't because the show wasn't what people expected? A 5 minute shorts silly show that has nothing to do with FiM's format and style of storytelling?

the reason why g4 was successful was because of Good writing and interesting characters, why not do the same thing but with a new canon and cast? i think it would make a lot of fans not get mad because their favorite characters are not being reused, if it was like MLP fim but was entirely its own thing i think it would make most People happy.

Some content in G4 was divisive but sometimes I think fans find the most absurd of things to fight over, alicorn Twilight being one of them,

there was a foreshadowing that Twilight Sparkle would become one even before it happened, when she was shown to be Princess Celestia's protege at the School of Gifted Unicorns.

It's okay, I don't disagree that a G4 reboot could be bad, what I can't understand is the reasons you gave for it, they just don't make sense for me, a G4 reboot could work, I believe that there are fans like you who are sure that a G4 reboot shouldn't be made because we still haven't seen a G4 reboot or a new project with reused G4 characters that worked, so this made you think that such thing is not possible, when that is not really how it works, that's why I used Transformers as a argument multiple times, Transformers got a lot of reboots with the same characters and elements of G1, and a lot of these reboots were praised, my question is why can't MLP do the same? Why is a G4 reboot so destined to fail? The only time we saw a G4 reboot was with Pony Life, which was never meant to be a series with the same goal as FIM or G5, it was never meant to be taken seriously, that was a transition generation made to fill the gap between G4 and G5, that show can't be used as a example for why a G4 reboot wouldn't work, and G5 also can't be used as a example because of the way it used the characters, messing up the continuity, making a connection that no one asked for, the fans didn't want them to connect the two generations. So Hasbro still hasn't even done a true G4 reboot, but fans like you for some reason say that it wouldn't work, why? Transformers One was a recent Transformers reboot and it was very well received, can't the same happen to a MLP G4 reboot? That's what I don't understand, you say that something is going to suck, when they haven't even tried to do such thing yet for you to see if it's goig to be good or not, that's why I said in the beginning that I prefer to not judge the idea so prematurely and that the best for me to do is wait and see, but okay.

Anyways, the truth is that g4 was perhaps too perfect. No gen will probably ever surpass its popularity. No matter how good it will be, I can almost guarantee that in the year 2030 the most MLP fan media will still be g4. Just look at MLP reddit. It's 99% about g4 and we're living in 2025

I've said if I had to pick a favourite pony, it's a tie between Fluttershy and Princess Luna, I really wouldn't want to pick favourites if I were in that fantasy world though, they're all cute in their own way, both in personality and looks. I like Princess Luna, she worked hard to earn respect of Ponies in Ponyville and Canterlot after that Nightmare Moon fiasco.
