The 3 Crystals

In the ANG movie, we saw a pegasus crystal, a unicorn crystal, and an earth pony crystal. However, there is no mention of them in G4 and we don't know where they came from (at least, from what I've seen so far - if their origin is explained in MYM or TYT then I still need to watch those).

But I have an......interesting theory. What if the G5 crystals came from the Elements of Harmony? This probably isn't the case, but maybe two Elements combined to make each species' crystal........

I've tried color matching them but to no avail. Combining the two pegasi Elements (Loyalty and Kindness) yielded a pinkish-red, not the blue that the pegasus crystal contains. Any ideas?

Haven't seen the movie either, but that would make sense to me. I don't think you'll have success with combining colors, because A) The color wheel does work the same when chemistry is involved. Rare earth stones take on their colors from specific elements reacting under intense heat and pressure, so what you get can be vastly different depending what you put in, but you might learn something by looking into that if you think that's a rabbit hole worth exploring, and There's no way the creators put that much effort into how things look, lol.

My thought on the 3 Crystals is that, basically, they were Twilight Sparkle's creation.

Somehow or other.

How she might have crafted them is in some thin sense connected to how long she had ruled before Opaline's machinations forced her hand. 

I know the IDW Gen 5 comic books have touched upon how Twilight Sparkle cast the Ward that protected Equestria. 

If she had reigned for a long time before Opaline came, then her magic must have been terrifyingly powerful by the time of the crisis, maybe beyond anything we saw or would expect to see.

Perhaps the 3 Crystals are the merely physical vessels, maybe Twilight Sparkle went to the granite countertop maker to have them cut into the shapes we see.

Maybe they are all flawless precious stones from the Crystal Empire, or Skyrim.
