RIP Mikayla Raines, the founder of Save-A-Fox animal sanctuary.

It is with a heavy heart I must inform you all that Mikayla Raines, the founder of Save-A-Fox, a sanctuary that saves my favorite animal, Foxes, from fur farms, has passed away at age 31, leaving behind a husband, daughter and parents to uphold her legacy. Her husband broke the news in a video yesterday. Fair warning, it is not an easy video to watch.

Mikayla also documented her efforts and spread the word on fox rescue, rehab and education thanks to the Save A Fox YouTube channel, establishing a cast of characters from the foxes she helped save, including the channel mascot, Finnegan the red fox. Her channel and socials helped raise awareness and compassion for millions. And it's the greatest tragedy that such compassion had to be taken from us.

Never would have thought a source of so much happiness in the form of her animals and her care for them, would end in something like this.

 

I hope for Ethan that he can stay strong during these hard times, and continue Mikayla's hard work.

Loved her Finnegan Fox Fridays.

Just real unfortunate somebody so selfless, especially for animals, could end up feeling so decimated... Rest in peace to her.

Whole situation is tragic, and could’ve been prevented if people had just been kinder… The internet and sites like Reddit have really just made it far too easy for users to anonymously harass others like they did Mikayla. I follow two rescues (Tiny Tim’s Tiny Foster Family and Rags to Riches Animal Rescue) that have both dealt with situations similar to what Mikayla dealt with, where the owner of the rescue is constantly being harassed by specific people in the rescue community for no good reason other than what seems like jealousy. That’s alongside the usual ridicule from the general public that every rescue, no matter the species or animal, seems to get. I’ve seen comments on bat rescue videos saying things along the lines of “there’s millions of starving people on earth and you choose to waste time and money rescuing bats instead?”. You have to have a heart full of hate, and a dull, dull life to go around harassing people trying to help and rescue animals.

RIP Mikayla.

A friend showed me an article about this last night  What a cruel world we live in, where someone can't even rescue cute foxes in peace.

After watching that video, the fact that she was a pure soul, all I've gotta say, I am sick to the stomach.

It is an absolute fucking disgrace the fact that she had people attacking her online to where she wasn't able to cope with it all anymore, especially not helping the fact that she had all these mental disorders to deal with in her life, and it certainly isn't helpful at all when people start targeting you over something thus compounding those issues even harder. All she ever wanted to do was rescue animals from pure human evil and give them a happy life, through the most pure and passionate care possible, and this is how these lifeless c***s repay her in return?! This is just pure fucking evil!

I'm sincerely hoping whoever those people were behind their little gutless keyboards attacking her relentlessly can go to fucking jail for none other than psychological murder, because that's essentially what it is!

My sincere condolences go out to her husband, daughter, and parents. Hearing him about the fact that he discovered her lifeless body, trying desperately to revive her back to life, while her daughter and closest people around her were crying in sheer agony, is something so unimaginable that no decent quality of life human beings should ever have to go through!

R.I.P Mikayla. Hope you're within the presence of Jesus forever eteranlised.

She had a beautiful soul and left a wonderful legacy.

I've always held foxes in high regard and treated them with reverence. For me, they are sacred. For the kindness and love that she has shown them, along with the others animals she has helped throughout her time. It will forever be her piece of immortality in this world. Further augmented by those who loved her dearly and continue her legacy. I'm not going to comment on those that pushed her towards this tragedy. Lady Justice has already passed sentence on the likes of them.
