TheTrueMelissa 71 July 29 Share July 29 (edited) The idea of stage magic in a world with real magic is a little senseless on the face of it. What ever gave Trixie the idea of using engineering to fake having greater magical skill than she has? It's as if I were bad at juggling, so I invented some animatronic self-juggling balls and went on stage to display what a great juggler I allegedly am. Even if it works, I'm missing the real story, which is that I have invented self-juggling balls. Trixie's show's billboard should have a prominent disclaimer that absolutely no magic is used at any point during her show. Unicorns, and alicorns if any, would be invited to monitor the show for the use of magic. For lifting her wand and similar tasks, she would use her mouth like an earth pony, because not a scrap of magic is to be used on stage. As she performed feats thought possible only with magic, the ponies would wonder how in Equestria she could perform such miracles. They'd experience the sense of amazement and wonder which is usually the point of such a show. At some point, someone will try to prove that Trixie is faking. She'll pass any test, because she isn't faking. That's the happy life Trixie could have had. Of course, then she might not have discovered the magic of friendship. What do you think of my alternate path for Trixie? Edited July 29 by TheTrueMelissa adding a word for clarity
anakin 35 July 29 Share July 29 Honestly, I think that would've been a great alternative path for Trixie, we shouldn't have had the same Trixie we know and love of course, but this path would probably helped her actually gain real fame lol
SharpWit 3,022 July 29 Share July 29 It's a nice thought, but part of what makes Trixie who she is, is not being the brightest. Her act is fine and all, it's the ego that's always been the issue. I saw a video the other day of a gentleman making it appear as though a Crumbled hankerchief had disappeared, but only to the child volunteer. The rest of the crowd clearly saw him just toss it aside. There was still magic in the joy brought to the crowd, and that's the kind Trixie needed to practice.

It's always bothered me a little that Trixie is literally standing on a stage, performing a role, during her boasting. If Snips and Snails hadn't been silly enough to confuse the show with real life, everything would have been fine.
NorthProductions 9 August 12 Share August 12 I think it’s established that she does it BECAUSE of her lack of magical skill. At least until she meets Starlight of course.
