Quillhelm glanced between Viola and Pencil in a brief silence, his ears perking as he tried to catch what kind of errand Pencil was talking about. His gaze drifted to the half-duck, half-pegasus, who was counting her bits with intense focus. A sly smile crept across his face. He just couldn’t resist.

 

“Two hundred Mississippi… two hundred twenty Mississippi… three hundred Mississippi…” he drawled, deliberately trying to throw off her count.
