private Door to Vehiculia (Part 1)

(I'll start off)

 

In Canterlot, two ponies, one male unicorn and one male pegasus, are working on a teleportation machine as a science project, in an effort to re-activate it from its lost power. "Come on, Rip Tide! I'll never ace this project if its not activated! I have to show everypon that an alternate dimension exists, just like in the book." said a worried unicorn colt as he tries to fix the machine. "Dude, you're worrying a bit too much, Techie. Almost done..." Rip Tide replied to Techie. "Done! Now let's fire this baby up!" He activates Techie's teleportation machine, which it turns on, although with having little power left. "Alright, this should do for now. We should find this electronic chip to increase its power, which is located somewhere around Canterlot." Techie replied to Rip Tide. "Wait, what? Listen, bro, as much as I love to--" he is interrupted when Techie puts a tuxedo on Rip Tide, as Techie wears a suit of his own. "Trust me, Rip Tide, you gotta look good if you wanna tour around Canterlot. Now let's go!" Techie trots off from the door as Rip Tide reluctantly follows him while wearing a tuxedo, as the two inadverdently leaves the door open as the two search for an electronic device to power up the teleportation machine.

Twilight Sparkle tiredly shelved one last book from the pile before collapsing in exhaustion. I just don't have much energy left in my today, she thought in irritation, as she glanced back at the humongous pile of books that still needed to be sorted out. For a second she contemplated calling Spike down again to sort them for her, but that would've been selfish - she'd already asked him to clean out her room about four times today. Sighing in resignation, she turned back to the enormous pile that awaited her.

Techie and Rip Tide enters an electronic store in Canterlot to look around for electronic devices to power up Techie's teleportation machine, having no luck so far. "Find anything, bro?" Rip Tide asked Techie. "No. I'm afraid not. They're pretty expensive as far as I know." Techie replied. "Well, we can't just go back empty-handed. Let's keep looking, bro." Rip Tide chuckles as the two resumes lookng for electronic devices with a reasonable price inside the electronic store.

Fluttershy stopped halfway through Canterlot, intimidated by the imposing buildings on either side of her, looming towards the sky like twisted trees. "Oh..." she murmured, backtracking a little as er brain screamed at her to run as fast as she could back where she had came. She blinked twice, determined to chase away the thoughts swirling in her brain.

 

"I'm doing it for Angel," she said firmly to herself, strengthening her faltering resolve. "The only place I can get Meadow Nectar for his horrible cough is here, and I am. Not. Letting. Buildings. Stop me!" She stamped her hoof firmly on the ground to emphasize her point.

 

Well, she spoke too soon. A sudden flock of birds rose over the skyline, cawing derisively as they fled their pony-made nests and scaring Fluttershy right into a dark alleyway, where she hid, cowering, behind a dumpster.

Techie and Rip Tide, who are still inside an electronics store, eventually find several electronic devices to fully power up Techie's teleporting machine. "Well, that was easy." Techie said with a chuckle. "Easy? It took us half an hour just to find those pieces, dude." Rip Tide replied with a groan. "Let's just buy it and have some brunch. I'm famished, man."

 

After Techie makes his purchase, the two leaves and head over to a nearby café to eat, with Rip Tide taking a huge bite out of the sandwich, with Techie simply watching him in confusion as Rip Tide eats his sandwich. "Heh... he's not kidding. He is hungry after all." Techie thought while eating his own lunch.

(Nah, it's unimportant now)

 

Fluttershy peeked her head out from the dumpster, irritation flooding into her as she realized her mistake. "I-I guess I'm just too scared to even venture out into everyday life," she sighed regretfully, heaving herself up off of the cold stone floor and taking a quick glance at her surroundings. Well, to her it looked like she was in an alleyway of some sort, where a few lone buildings had entrances scattered among the brick walls. Pacing around for a few moments, she realized that the door to one of the buildings was ajar, and a soft glow emanated brightly from within. Curiosity getting the better of her, she approached the source of light apprehensively.

 

"I'm sure nopony would mind if I took a small peek inside," she said quietly to herself, although her heart was hammering madly in her chest.

She sees a slightly large, teleportation machine, which has been left active, despite having very little electricity to it. There is also a lone book lying on the table, which somehow appears to be somewhat old-looking. However, there was nopony inside the building as if somepony had left their home, but have forgotten to close the door.

Fluttershy crept slowly up to the table and gently flipped open the book, but gave up after a few moments trying to decipher the cryptic handwriting. "Maybe Twilight would like to take a look at it," she said slowly to herself. "Oh, but it's not mine...stealing is wrong." Putting it gently back on the table, she decided to peek into the strange-looking metal contraption in the center of the room, examining the metal sheets that made up its four walls and wondering what on Equestria it was used for.

Upon examining the machine, the portal appears to be a faint white void that is designed to travel through dimensions. The book suddenly falls off from the table due to a sudden gust of wind from the door that was left open, which then reveals about the story of Vehiculia, an alternate dimension of Equestria, still containing cryptic handwriting and all.

 

Meanwhile, both Rip Tide and Techie, having finished their brunch, trots back to Techie's home to continue working on his teleportation machine as a science project. Rip Tide notices the door that was left open earlier. "Didn't you closed the door when we left?" he asked. "I would if you hadn't just pulled me out in such a hurry, Rip Tide." Techie replied as he groaned with annoyance.

Fluttershy carefully examined the interesting-looking machine, attempting to muster up the courage to actually place a hoof inside the mist of swirling energy that she assumed was a portal. "Ohh, I really shouldn't," she stammered. "I'm here for Angel, after all..." She hesitated, hoof inches away from the crackling energy field, when suddenly her tempo was shattered by voices from outside.

 

"Oh! S-someone's outside! What'll I do, they'll think I'm a burglar!" She scrambled for the nearest hiding place, panicked into a frenzy, which turned out to be the table that the book had rested on. She dove underneath the wooden table and clapped her hooves to her ears, hudled in a ball beneath the furniture.

As the two enter the house, Techie sets up his devices while Rip Tide senses something suspicious inside Techie's home. "Hey bro. Ever get the feeling that somepony might be inside?" he asks. "Well, if you hadn't gotten me in a rush, this wouldn't have happened." Techie replied as he sets up his electronic devices to power up the machine as Rip Tide keeps looking around until he senses something that's from a wooden table. "Hmm..." Rip Tide peeks underneath the wooden table and encounters a yellow pegasus pony, who is curled into a ball and shaking. "Huh?" Rip Tide carefully examines the pony as he crouches down on four hooves and gently pokes the yellow pegasus pony.

"Eep!" Fluttershy curled up even tighter as she realized she was being poked. "Please don't hurt me, I was just curious as to what was going on," she pleaded, her voice muffled slightly by her hair.

RIp Tide jumps in a startling manner, which hits his head from underneath the table. "OW!" Rip Tide dizzily flies over to Techie. "I think we gots a cute, yellow-ish pegasi visiting your... home." Rip Tide chuckles dizzily as he collapses onto the ground, with eyes spinning around and all from the harsh impact from the table he hit, much to Techie's dismay, as he check the table to see a yellow pegasus. "Huh? A filly pegasus?" he clears his throat as he loks at Fluttershy. "So... who you might be in Canterlot? Name's Techie and my friend is..." he pauses for a moment to see a dazed Rip Tide before looking back to Fluttershy. "Rip Tide. I didn't expect to have a visitor while I was working my teleportation machine as a science project." Techie said with a chuckle.

"Th-that's what it is?" asked Fluttershy nervously. "It just looked so pretty, and I wanted to take a closer look at it. "Umdon'thurtme?" she squeaked, quailing under their gazes.

"Rainbow. Hey, Rainbow, wake up."

 

"Huh?" Rainbow Dash groggily opened her eyes to find a familiar-looking purple mare shaking her frantically.

 

"Rainbow, Fluttershy should've been back a half-hour ago. It's not like her to be late," Twilight said, a hint of panic in her voice.

 

Rainbow Dash stared in disbelief at her friend. "You're waking me up from a dream about the Wonderbolts for this?" Groaning, she flopped back down onto the tree branch she had been resting on. "Stop worrying so much, Twi. She probably got lost or something...".

 

"You know Fluttershy would never be late when she's trying to help cure Angel," Twilight said sternly. "Her pets are very important to her. Something...bad...might've happened," she added worriedly.

 

"You're just paranoid," grumbled Dash, unwilling to leave the comfort of her tree branch.

 

"She's your friend, too, Rainbow!" said Twilight, stamping her hoof impatiently. "How would you feel if you found out something bad happened to her?"

 

"Oh, all RIGHT." snapped Dash with a heavy sigh as she dropped from her tree branch to land with a heavy thud on the floor. "But I'm taking the rest of the day off after this." Immensely irritated, she flapped her wings as she took off for Canterlot.

Techie chuckles. "Now, why would we wanna do that?" he asked Fluttershy, knowing that he had no intention to physically harm Fluttershy. "Also, tits pretty harmless when you touch that portal, its just not fully powered yet. Thanks for asking.. err..." Techie is forced to pause, not knowing Fluttershy's name.

 

"I know her name is! Erm.. no, I forgot." said Rip Tide, still recovering from his dizziness after taking a blunt force to the head by a table he had hit earlier.

Fluttershy squeaked, evidently still too embarrased at this recent turn of events to say anything, and began inching towards the doorway.

 

"There you are, Fluttershy!" Rainbow Dash said triumphantly, bursting into the room in a flash of prismatic light. "Quick, let's go. Twi's on my case about being too lazy." She began slowly dragging the Fluttershy-in-a-ball out from underneath the table and towards the doorway.

Techie does not notice Rainbow Dash's presence as he continues to work on his teleportation machine while carefully adding parts to it. "See ya... erm... newpony!" Rip Tide frantically as he frantically waves goodbye to Fluttershy as he lies on the ground in an effort to ease his diziness.

Rainbow Dash, with some effort, finally pulled Fluttershy out of the building and back into the alley. "There," she grumbled, a hint of irritation in her voice as she looked down at the quivering Fluttershy. "Jeez, how do you get lost in this city? You've been here at least a couple times before."

 

Fluttershy looked immensely ashamed of herself. "I was just...a bit startled, is all," she murmured quietly. "Um...I'm going to go get the supplies for Angel now, if...if that's okay with you."

 

Rainbow rolled her eyes. "I'm coming with you, or you're going to get sidetracked again. Come on, move it." She nudged Fluttershy out of the alleyway, still grumbling under her breath. "An hour of sleep time wasted. So not cool."

Back inside, Techie carefully sets up the last piece befire the teleportation device now has full power, as the portal now brightens up even more. "It's.. it's finished!" He jumps with joy. "Whoo! Rip Tide, it's now on full power! Now I can show it to everypony my new science project tomorrow!" Techie said with enthusiasm. "Yay. Listen, I gotta head back to Cloudsdale and catch some Z's. Can I borrow your book for today, Techie? It's pretty interesting to read, even though I'm not too big on books, y'know." Rip Tide asks Techie, despite being a bit unexcited than Techie. "Sure thing, Rip Tide. Anything for a great friend." Techie replied with a smile. "Heh. You're cool, man." Rip Tide grabs the book of Vehiculia with his front hooves before flying out from Techie's home and away from Canterlot. "Be sure to return it tomorrow!" Techie reminds Rip Tide as he leaves his home.

 

"Huh... I wonder what's so important about this book? Vehiculia? Eh... it may be just a total myth, but at least this might be worth the read, who knows." Rip Tide said to himself as he flies to Cloudsdale.

Rainbow Dash sighed impatiently as she watched Fluttershy hurriedly bounce into the Canterlot marketplace to find the ingredients she needed. Dash tapped the ground with a hoof for what seemed like an hour, until Fluttershy finally came barreling back out with bags full of merchandise.

 

"I-I didn't know what to get. They had so many things, and they all looked so helpful," Fluttershy said quickly, hearing Rainbow Dash's exasperated sigh. "Sorry..".

 

"Oh, it's alright," sighed Dash. "Here, let me help you with some of that..." Grabbing a few bags and swinging them over her shoulder, Dash glanced towards the horizon. The sun was just starting to set. "If we hurry, we can make it back to Ponyville before nightfall."

Rip Tide eventually arrives in Cloudsdale, with Techie's book on his front hooves, as he sits on a small, vacant cloud as he opens the books and begins to read it. "...rumor has it that there is one pony who resides inside an unknown mountain, creating endless amounts of lightning..." he pauses for a moment, having a skeptical expression on his face. "Pon? In an alternate dimension? That's weird, considering as how this 'alternate dimension of Equestria' included living machines, but a pony? Talk about weird." Rip Tide resumes to read the book, eventually becoming bored of it as he falls asleep onto a cloud, with Techie's book covering his face.

"There," Dash said, wiping a bit of sweat off of her face as Ponyville finally came into view on the horizon. "That took so much longer than I thought it would..."

 

"Sorry..." said Fluttershy in a small voice. "I shouldn't have bought so much."

 

"No, It's fine," sighed Dash. "It's for Angel, after all. Here, I'll fly with you a bit until we reach your cottage, so you don't have to carry all of this, okay?" Fluttershy nodded, and for a few more minutes the only sound in the air was that of beating wings.

Back in Canterlot, Techie tries to sleep, but is having some troubles doing so, as he kept thinking if Rip Tide would return the book tomorrow for his recently finished teleportation machine, as wel as having a concerned expression. "I just hope Rip Tide knows what he's doing. I can't imaginee what's going to hapen if he loses the book." Techie gets a flashback sequence, imagining RIp Tide arriving back without the book in his possession:

 

"Did you got my book, Rip Tide?" Techie asks.

 

"Yeeeah, about that book... I... sorta sold it for bits, just to buy lunch, and some cupcakes." Rip Tide replied, with a nervous smile on his face.

 

Techie becomes shocked from RIp Tide's reply.

 

"You what?! Are you kidding me?! That book was rare, and it took me months to find it that was buried deep from the ground! Some friend you turned out to be, Rip Tide, I'm highly dissapointed in you. I knew I shouldn't have trusted you into giving my book fr you to read it. Now my grades are going to fail because you sold the most rare and important book I needd for proof." Techie said to Rip Tide with such anger before the flashback ends.

 

'Ugh... I'll have to sleep it off and await the next day.' Techie said with a shudder. "I just have to hope for the best. Rip TIde never lets me down.." Techie then drifts off to sleep while trying to forget about the unfourtunate event within his thoughts.

Rainbow Dash waved good-bye to Fluttershy as she watched her disappear into the cottage, holding a staggering amont of medicinal herbs and miscellaneous plants. "Well, that's taken care of now," she said cheerfully. "Now for a nice, well-deserved nap..."

 

"Rainbow Dash!" an excited voice behind her called, and Dash turned, nonplussed, to see Twilight Sparkle bouncing up the dusty dirt road towards her.

 

"Look, Twi, I've already taken Fluttershy home. It's alright now," Dash said, in an attempt to forestall her.

 

"No, it's not that. Did you see? The Wonderbolts made a surprise stop in Ponyville while you were away. I got an autograph from one of them - I thought you might want it."

 

Rainbow Dash stared at her, slightly stunned. "Th-the Wonderbolts? HERE? And I missed it?" she asked, her jaw dropping.

 

Twi gave a nervous grin. "Which is why I got this autograph for you, I thought-"

 

"I can't believe this," yelled Dash angrily to the air. "I would have been here if a certain somepony hadn't forced me to go looking for a pony perfectly fine on her own! The Wonderbolts, Twi! It's my lifelong dream, and I may have just lost my only opportunity with them!" Without waiting for Twilight's reply, she rocketed off the ground towards a nearby cloud, leaving Twi looking slightly hurt behind her.

Rip Tide, still aslep onto an empty cloud in Cloudsdale, suddenly jolts awake. "No Techie!" He immediately pauses before hoding onto the book tightly and looking left and right before letting out a nervous chuckle. "Geez, who'd knew I'dbe getting a really crazy nightmare?" He lets out a sigh. "Nah, Techie won't do a thing at me. He's not just my friend, but a bro, and a best one. I can't let him down." Rip Tide then lies bac down, his font hooves firmly holding onto the bok of Vehiculiabefore drifting back to sleep. "No crazy nightmare is gonna stop me... no sir no how..." Rip Tide snores as he sleeps once more.
