Its not a bad idea and it would also created TONS of new shippings   which are glorious for me XD

 

but i'm pretty sure the show will do something like that at one point or at least show a few stallions that 'could' take the place of the mane 6 if they are not present in a moment of danger ...

I don't think we need 5 new male characters, however I would enjoy seeing current male characters have more appearances (*cough* Braeburn *cough*) in the show. Although I could do without seeing Zephyr ever again.

Honestly, I would not be very happy about it. If a group of males were added to the main cast, not only would there be many issues in practicality, including a lack of focus on each individual character, disjointed storylines as well as the fact that we would have to see a lot less of the characters that we've come to know and love over the years, but there would also be a moral factor to it as well. The show has always been very female-dominated, and honestly, I have to say that I like it that way. I tend to perfer shows which involve a female dominated cast ( like Steven Universe and Star Vs The Forces Of Evil ) more than those with a primarily male one.

 

Besides, we've come a long way with each individual member of the Mane 6, each of them having a colossal fanbase unique to themselves. Throwing in all these new characters this late in the show's life ( let's face it, the show will probably last 3 more seasons, 4 at the most ) would just disrupt all of the things that we have come to love about the Mane 6 that we already have with us, and frankly, I like what we have going with us now.
