my notification button seems to be busted.

I click it, Cadence shows up for about 3 seconds just trotting about, then all I get is an empty little space.

Usually it'd have messages telling me who bro hoofed me, who quoted me and all that jazz.

Is this a common issue?

Internet connection and browser settings are the first culprits to these kinds of things. Like Dragon said, clear cache, cookies, all that stuff, see if it stops doing it. If not, try other browsers and see if it stops doing it in them. If it does, then it's probably an add-on or setting in your browser that's screwing it up. And always check your internet connection and determine if it's slow enough to possibly be causing these issues.

looks like It's your internet connection or some sort of java/flash bug

Oh my >.> I usually don't mind people trying to help others, but why blame it on java/flash if both are not used for the notifications system?

But yes, clearing your cache is one of the easiest way to check it is not a client problem.

I love you! <3

Try disabling each and every single one of your add-ons and make sure that JavaScript execution is enabled. Nothing has changed in the way the notification system works in a very long time, and it has been fully functional since the day the forums opened.

Might as well slap the 'Resolved' button off of this topic, because it's happening now to me too.

-I use Firefox, unlike Chrome, so clearly it happens across browsers.

-Clearing cookies and cache didn't do a thing, even restarted the computer and whatnot.

-Clearly it isn't add-ons, because this just started happening twenty minutes ago, and there's been absolutely no change, updates or anything of the sort in the browser or computer.

-My internet connection is solid. Things aren't any slower or faster than they have been.

I R stumped.

EDIT: Aaaaand it's randomly working again.

Okay, new thought process.

"Dear Overlord Feld0,

What I learned about forums today is that you should have patience when you encounter small problems that you don't seem to understand. Sometimes, they'll go away on their own. Just like with Pinkie's tail phenomena, there are some bugs that just don't make sense, but that come and go. You should wait it out to see if time fixes the problem. If not, then and only then should you resort to major tools to try and fix the problem.
