(OOC: I felt like I wanted to do a very shippy post, where I avoided being mushy cheese)

After dinner, Rook went to clean the dishes while Blaze and Lily to relax in the living room of their small house. Starbolt leaned on the entrance to the kitchen while she quietly watched Rook wash things with his magic (and hoofs).

"You know what, Rook? You should go relax. You've been working non stop for the last few weeks, and you need a break..." Starbolt said, using her magic to pull some of the dishes out the of sink and some dishcloths to wipe them.

"No no, it's fine." Rook said, "I don't want you to waste your night in the kitchen. Besides, I've already started, so-"

Starbolt walked up next to Rook in front of the sink and started to tug some off the dishes he was levitating out of the air. Rook tried to pull them back, but his magic wasn't as strong.

"Haha, I guess you better listen to me now, mister." Starbolt smiled and stuck out her tongue a bit. "Now go catch up with Blaze or something."

"How about you and Lily have some mare time," Rook grabbed some of the dishes Starbolt wasn't in control of, "and I keep doing the dishes."

"Why are you-" Starbolt attempted to tug the dishcloth out of Rook's magic, which he held onto with as much force as he could, "-so intent on doing the dishes!?"

"Because," Rook struggled to keep the dishcloth, ".... I don't know, I don't want to feel like we're living a stereotype?"

"We're unmarried and live with a demo pony and a pregnant alicorn," Starbolt tugged on the dishcloth, causing Rook to move a little, "I think we're the example of untypical!"

"Well, maybe I like washing stuff." Rook said a bit louder.

"Well, I'd like to give you a night off!"

"Well.... maybe I want to be chivalrous."

"Rook, I can take care of myself! You don't need to be chivalrous! And besides," Starbolt pulled hard on the dishcloth, "Who say's it it can't be both ways!" The cloth they were fighting over was ripped free of Rook's magic, and he was pulled to the floor right in front of Starbolt's hoofs. After a moment of awkwardness, they burst into laughing.

"You..." Starbolt tried to say, "you are so ridiculous!"

"And you're cute when you're flustered." Rook said smiling when he got up. "But I think you win this argument. I'll go hang out with Blaze or something...."

As Rook walked out, Starbolt came to a quick realization, "Wait, did you seriously just give me a hard time just because you thought I was cute when annoyed like that?"

"Right you are. Your deduction gets better every day."

Starbolt responded by magically shooting water from the sink into Rook's face. She still smiled. "And you look good with a wet mane". she laughed.

Rook quickly did the same to Starbolt, having the water completely soak her, "Same goes to you." They both laughed again.

I hope these days never end....

Blaze and Lily walked into their room after dinner. "You know, that was a great dinner and all, but you think he would've made more. Especially since he knows my appetite." Blaze said.

"Maybe you could eat a little less? I've never known a pony who eats as much as you do." Lily said

"Oh haha. You know, maybe I will cook the next meal. At least then we know that there will be enough for everypony to get seconds." he said. They sat on the couch and cuddled next to each other.

"You know, I've been thinking...maybe we shouldn't call him Nova." Lily said.

"What made you think of that?" Blaze asked.

"Well if we're going to be raising him to not be like the old Nova, shouldn't we do what we can to make sure he doesn't turn into him?" Lily said.

"I guess. But what would we name him?" Blaze asked. He heard the door open. "Hello?" he called out.

"It's me, Blaze." Rook said. He walked in dripping wet, leaving a trail of water behind him as he walked.

"Umm...Rook?" Blaze asked holding back his laughter. "Mind explaining why you decided to go swimming before stopping by?" he asked.

"Oh, nothing. Starbolt and I had a fight." Rook smiled as he used to magic to grab a towel from a nearby rack, "Can I borrow this? We're out..."

"Oh dear, Rook, are you two alright? I hope you guys didn't say anything too drastic -"

"Haha, it's alright. I was just messing with her a bit, which reminds me.... remember the date that I was going to have with her?" Rook asked.

"You mean the two dinners we ruined and the one the Brotherhood ruined? Yeah." Blaze laughed.

Rook dried off his hair. "Well, uh..... er...."

"Yes Rook?"

"Er... nothing. I think I should think it over first."

"Spit it out, Rook!" Blaze said.

"Spit what out?" Starbolt said as she walked in, "Oh Rook, I finished the dishes. Can I borrow that towel?" Rook handed her the towel. When she was drying her face, he gave Blaze an angry look, "Seriously, Rook gave me the hardest time for wanting to do those dishes." She said through the towel.

"Is that why you two are wet?" Lily laughed.

Starbolt took off the towel. She and Rook looked at each other, "Yep. Anyway, Rook, was there something you wanted to say?"

"Uh... Oh, nothing. I gotta go..... do something...."

"Make tea?"

"Yes, yes, that's it. Make tea..." Rook left the room, leaving the others rather confused.

"You know, we do owe him something." Blaze said. "Especially after all the crap he puts up with us."

"What did you have in mind? An explosive surprise?" Lily asked sarcastically.

"Yes because that worked out so well last time." Blaze said.

"I guess I'll go check on him. You know how he is when he doesn't get tea. I'll see you two later." Starbolt said and left the room.

"So what did you actually have in mind?" Lily asked

"Well since he never gets a real date with Starbolt, I say we put one together for him." he said.

"Oh please. You aren't the most romantic stallion out there you know." Lily said.

"It's me doing something for Rook. Do you really think I plan to make it romantic for him?" Blaze said with a mischievous grin. "Distract them for me, and we'll both get a laugh from him."

Lily walked down to the kitchen where Rook and Starbolt were. "Hey, I need to run down to the market. You two want to join me? We can get some more tea leaves while we're out." Lily said.

"Sure, why not? I needed some extra anyways." Rook said. "Blaze not coming?"

"I can't shop with him. He'll just stand in front of the nearest fudge shop and drool." Lilly said with a laugh.

"Alright. Well, my parents are still waiting for that wedding, Rook. We can go out and find a plastic ring that looks real and hopefully by us some more time. You know, unless you don't want to wait?" Starbolt said with a grin.

"Oh...um...well I guess we can....go get a ring?" Rook stumbled.

"Great! Well let's get going." Lily said and the left out the door.

Blaze waited until he heard the door close before he left his room. He walked downstairs into the kitchen and began to prepare a date that would be remembered in infamy.

"Look, all I'm saying is that it's barbaric to sell tea leaves 2 bits per leaf!" Rook exclaimed.

"You acted like he wanted you to buy all of Canterlot!" Lily said laughing. She walked to the front of the house and opened the door. There was a loud pop as they entered the house.

"Welcome! Rook, Starbolt, you're table awaits." Blaze said with a bow. There were sparklers, firecrackers, and other flammable objects.

"What....Blaze....What are..." Rook stumbled.

"Just me giving you what you deserve. A proper date. Sadly, we have no baby photos of you here, but Starbolt will just have to use her imagination." Blaze said with a smile. "Your food is in the oven. I'd recommend ducking when the oven goes off."

"Now you two behave yourselves." Lily said with a wink. She walked upstairs with Blaze and closed the door to their room.

"I... uh... Blaze... wha... what?" Rook was at a loss for words (not in the the good way) tried to find Blaze. Unfortunately, Blaze and Lily had quickly retreated upstairs. He then looked at Starbolt. "Well... shall we?"

"I'd be delighted," She said. They walked into the smokey dining room. Rook pulled out a chair for Starbolt, letting her sit in it.

"Oh Blaze, such a bad host....." Rook mumbled.

"Oh, don't say that, Rocky." Starbolt said, "He was nice enough to set this up for -"

"You do realize that cake he has in the oven is going to blow up, right?"

Starbolt laughed, "Of course! But still, this is his way of trying to be nice."

Rook sat next to her, "Yeah, well, I had to deal with him for way too long.... I always help him out, but GRRR, he's not exactly one to -"

"Rook, he's your friend, as is Lily. I think you're getting a bit frustrated with our situation. I know he means well."

Rook was counting down quietly, "5... 4... 3... 2... 1..." There was a muffled 'boom' in the kitchen. "There we go."

"Was that..."

"Yep, that was our cake. That was the same recipe he used on this jerk that hitting on Lily when we where foals. It was quite funny."

Starbolt coughed, "You know what? Let's go outside. It promises to be a nice night"

"You ready?" Blaze asked Lily. The cake had gone off, meaning Rook was going to be annoyed and probably leaving the house with Starbolt to go to an actual restaurant.

"Yep. It's nice that you're actually trying this time. Even if it is in your own super weird way." Lily said with a smile.

"It's the least I can do. Been helping me for Celestia knows how long, so best if I return the favor." They saw the door open from their window as Rook and Starbolt walked out of the house. Lily cast the spell, causing a giant Gazebo to appear.

"Think that got his attention?" Lily asked.

"If it didn't, I'm going to get his eyes checked with a cherry bomb next week." Blaze said as they quietly closed the window.
