Benji0 19 July 16, 2012 Share July 16, 2012 (edited) I've been trying to find a job for over a year now, and haven't met with success. Thinking everything over, I decided that I want to volunteer badly. I don't completely know why I want to, but I see it as something to do, a way to prove I'm not lazy, a way to improve others' opinions of me, and a way to improve my opinion of myself. Not to mention the chance to represent passion for helping others on behalf of my fellow pony loving friends. I can't think of anything specific I want to do, but I think I've decided I'm pretty much happy with any general labor. The mane issue I've run into is I don't know where to look, and I don't really know how to ask for help, being that I'm so horrible at communication. I also wonder if there's any pitfalls I should be aware of, like being taken advantage of; or if there are obscure benefits I might overlook. If anyone has any good ideas or cool anecdotes, they would make me happy. I hope I can bring a good name to all bronies, and I hope I can make you guys proud. Thanks, bronies. -Benjamin Edited July 17, 2012 by Benji0
I used to be a stranger 7,993 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 You might be able to find something looking at the community bulletin, which would probably be located at the community center, recreation center, town hall or the local public library. I remember volunteering to be an Artist Host at the Vancouver Olympics. Free drinks and bus passes all over the Lower Mainland was awesome, not to mention getting to meet Musicians from all over the world.
Evilshy 5,090 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 I used to volunteer at a senior living center. It was fun, and I became friends with plenty of residents, as well as the staff I worked with, and was eventually offered a job. Not to mention it let me get out of the house for a few hours a week. However, by that time, I had already found a job that paid a bit better and would likely give me more hours, so I stuck with it. 1 Signature now 99% less edgy! Ol' Sarge 885 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 Volunteer with the Special Olympics. That is always one of my favorites. I volunteered when I was in High School and oddly enough SkullBuster has volunteered with them several times (and that was without my input). 1 This Signature Brought to you by Dragonshy Signature Service

Kazuki Fuse 534 July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 (edited) I've logged over 250 hours into the shelter's and kitchens downtown. If you have places like that where you live, they're almost always looking for a helping hand! Edited July 17, 2012 by stryker Eh? Nandatte? I want to teach science to kids! How does one do this? And I don't want to go to school for years to become a science teacher, just do it every now and then in my spare time.
