Nightfall heard voices. He felt like waking up was being dragged out of water when one is drowning. He opened his eyes and saw Blade right next to him. Before anything happened, he noticed Wits. Nightfall hugged Blade, then looked at Wits, and finally noticed Cadance.

"This is a call," Wits said. "An ultimatum, if you will. I need people in the Front, and I need you. We're recruiting more and more soldiers, and we have a plan, but I need someone to command our forces on covert missions. You are the best man for the job, and Vinyl is signing up with us, so you now have little enough other options."

 

As a means of helping the argument, Princess Cadance slowly increased his love at this point, much more subtle than before, but he would feel an attachment and need to stay with Vinyl growing.

Celestia has shut down progress and put us into this stasis. Luna is trying to split the land of Equestria and ruin any chance we have of peace in the future, not to mention she is clearly unstable. I wouldn't ask for this if it weren't important." Wits paused, then looked at Nightfall, really looked at him, almost into his soul.
