Johny Farenheit 34 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 I haven't seen the show beyond the first episode, and I'm wondering what the problem with those little morphing creatures is. I don't see why i shouldn't just waltz into the thick of them, take one home and love it. I honestly see no problem with that. Whats the big deal with them, anyway? Sure, they impersonate your loved ones, but why not just love one as is? I think it would make an excellent friend. Then again, this is from the person who finds spiders to be adorable and would hug a crocodile.
Pencil J. Doodle 242 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 Try watching the actual episodes they appear in (A Canterlot Wedding, Parts 1 and 2), then you'll see why you can't just "take one home and love it" What makes ME a good brony?! None42069 520 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 They feed off of love and, according to the stream chat I was in when I watched the episodes, their queen is a bitch.
SonOfTheNorthe 412 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 Well, they DO feed off love. I suppose you could have one for a friend. Just don't snuggle it too much, or it'll get fat.
Johny Farenheit 34 July 27, 2012 Author Share July 27, 2012 I'd totally make mine overweight. :3 And i will watch the episode. THough i just don't see; if they want love, why not let a kind soul take one in so it will get all the love it needs?
Radiance64 7,053 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 You should probably watch 'A Canterlot Wedding' before you form an opinion on the Changelings. I personally think they were awesome and totally unexpected villains.
Chigens and Kay 3,832 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 I've actually seen a comic like that before. I wont go into detail but it involved someone who was rejected by the one they loved and a Changeling turned into that someone. The rejected person recieved the love they wanted and the Changeling got the love they need. Win-win. I see no problem with them, Queen Chrysalis just took the wrong path. Maybe if she was nicer, they wouldn't need to have fought. My signature broke
Bow Heart 84 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 They do feed off love, but the way they go and impersonate ponies and (I can only assume) other creatures is in a very aggressive way from what we've been shown. Chrysalis imprisoned Cadence to make sure she wouldn't ruin anything, which is considerable as Cadence is a princess and a very important pony. But when the magical barrier around Canterlot failed, the other changelings swarmed the place and were attacking ponies left and right. To openly accept one and try to befriend him/her though, there is no evidence as to how a changeling would react. I suppose it could be a matter of personality, but alot of people seem to think they're of a hive mind. 1 Tonight I've become the most dazzling precious treasure I am treasured over all the earth Just look at what he's done How he's laying down his life Take this life, oh most dazzling precious treasure
NavelColt 22,881 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 They're parasites, they feed off your love and cause you to lose power and whatnot in the process. Parasites are generally disliked in nature, because they cause damage or harm to the things they feed off of. On top of that, yes, their Queen, Chrysalis, is a bitch. But, you can always take one home with you as a pet anyway. I'm sure if it's only the one and not the whole swarm + Queen Bitch herself, you could satisfy it's need for love, if you genuinely loved and took care of it yourself. I imagine having a pet that transforms into others would be a cool thing to brag about to your friends, at least

Twiliscael 3,960 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 They feed off of love. They will morph into your most loved ones and suck all that is good out of them. They are the ultimate parasite, and a pretty devilish one at that. Someone totally could probably make a horror movie about it I tend to take the high road, get stoned, and fly low . . . Bari 7,023 July 27, 2012 Share July 27, 2012 Well, I'd enjoy having a Changeling as a pet. I would care for it, and make sure it's happy. But, it would probably die from being over fed....

The very idea of feeding for changelings are kidnapping some ponies, transform into him/her, and took his/her place among his family and beloved ones. The surrounding ponies are surely unharmed, they need the love after all, but the replaced ponies are kept somewhere hidden where s/he couldn't escape by his/her own. If that thing doesn't scream 'evil-as-muffin' to you, something is definitely wrong.

I'm only guessing here but if the changelings can change form so drastically there would be the possibility of them having to ability to change into you. Though, they wouldn't need to replace you. Maybe switch places every so often, or just be kept in the vicinity. I'm not really sure actually, how changelings feed and what they can do to attain love hasn't been explained other than "If they transform into somepony that's cared about, they can feed off of the love other ponies have for them". Starshine 16,334 July 28, 2012 Share July 28, 2012 Switching place every now and then whenever the targeted ponies left the vicinity? I rather doubt that will work, unless the replaced pony was a ditz. About the feeding, it's rather implied that the Changelings could only feed off of the love if they are the one who was being loved. If those insects could simply feed themselves by being around in any lovey-dovey ponies' vicinity, the invasion wouldn't go that far. Then again, I still don't really understand what Chrysalis hoped to achieve with that full-scale attack on Canterlot
SBaby 660 July 28, 2012 Share July 28, 2012 (edited) Then again, I still don't really understand what Chrysalis hoped to achieve with that full-scale attack on Canterlot I don't know either, but it did bring up an interesting point. This was the first time that anyone really outright attacked any part of Equestria with an army. So in other words, we saw for the first time, the prospect that Equestria itself may not be as protected as we thought it was before this. Edited July 28, 2012 by SBaby A Winner Is You!!!
