So some people hate when their friends change their name. But I have a suggestion.

 

If your Friend changes his name, there should be a Notification saying something like:

 

"(pastusername) changed his name to (futureusername)"

There, very simple.

I think this seems like a good idea, but people will still hate on name changers.

Well I dunno, probably. It seems the simplest thing to do, So of course a lot of people will get this idea.

Such a feature sure would be very helpful and convenient, regardless of the fact that there's always going to be people who will be against the name changing altogether, just as there are people on the opposite side.

I think if there was an option that you could choose which friends, but usually, you can tell what their names are, because they usually keep similar names, or if they're donors, they keep their user title, but otherwise, I think it would be a good feature.

To be honest, I can't say I'm a big fan of name changes. I've changed my nick only once on one forum. It should be something you could change on request, I think. But that would just make ponies spam mods I think unless some kind of counter would be implemented, limiting times you can change it over period of time.

 

Best think I can think of would be some very visible "list of previous nicknames," that is on mouse over avatar, not like it currently is. Also, same goes with avatar. It would be great to be able to see previous avatar as well as previous nickname right away.
