Magneus stretched in bed and peeked out the window, the sun was just over the mountains, giving a bright yellowish orange glow over Equestria, "Good morning to you too" he threw the sheets over and walked over to the sink where he proceeded to wash his face, Magneus looked over to the fridge and sighed, "Breakfast... oh dang it, i forgot i have to go get more food, i ran out when i ate the last of the... oh what did i eat yesterday..." Magneus opened the door and walked out and took in a deep breath from the morning air, a bit humid i suppose, a few friendly waves were exchanged as Magneus walked to the market.

Eris was at the market: She was selling Magical Stones, or at least that is what the banner above her said. In front of her you could see indeed several stones: emeralds, sapphire, rubies. A few of them were glowing regularly, the others were just lying around, waiting to be discovered.

Eris was sitting behind them; wearing glasses and reading a book. It was a book about Magic in Equestria and it's origins. She seemed to be pretty absorbed by it. But as soon as somebody passed she would look up, eyeing at the possible customer.

This also happened as Magneus passed, only... she blinked and would call out, "Good Morning Sir! Can I interest you into some heating Stones! Or perhaps this Emerald here.", she would point at a pulsating emerald, "It keeps Flies away! Useful right?"

During all this she would smile and look towards Magneus in a hope he would stop by.

Magneus' ears perked up at the sound of somepony talking to him, he looked to his left and saw a mare trying to sell gems, he trotted over and smiled at her, he looked at the gems and his smile slightly faded. Some gems varied magical properties. Magneus waved his magic over each one that looked to be magic and easily figured out what they do, "Very useful all of them, but some things about them you might not know. The one you said keeps the flies away also keeps most other insects away, that would sell for quite a bit to a camper, as for me though i'm always- or, mostly always, indoors. There is no need to go into detail about the other things the gems do, a few minor things someone would pick up on in a few minutes. As for buying one, i'm sorry to say, i have spells to do the exact same things, but i do need a opal for a spell iv'e been trying to learn, do you have any currently?" If Magneus wanted he could rant on all day about magic, it was all he focused on in his life, and any chance he had to learn a new spell was a new adventure, in its own way. "Sorry if i talk too much about this stuff, its kinda my life"

"Campers you say? I heard about Ponyville being mostly earth ponies, but not that many went camping... thanks for the tip though", she would then go and check in the cart that was stationed behind her, "Opal you say? Hmmm...", one could hear various objects being thrown out, among them a smaller opal as well as two metallic plates who would bury them. Eris did not see any of this happen and just started to talk while still searching, "You said Magic is your life? That is rather interesting, this being an eartbound village! Or are you like me and just passing by?"

"In a sense yes, magic is all i do during the day unless i need some materials or food if i run out. And i moved here to ponyville cause it was... quieter, peaceful. Unlike Canterlot where its all business and noise. I prefer being able to learn and study in silence and not having to worry about somepony interrupting." Magneus watched as the mare searched around her stall for the gem he needed.

"And yes i did say campers, though they may not seem in bundles here, they sure find a way to fillydelphia, iv'e traveled to a few places, but its nothing compared to what they do, i was amazed at how many ponies insisted on traveling to another place and staying from a day to a week, with nothing but food, shelter, and warmth"

After some time Eris stopped looking, "Sorry... can't find it". She grinned sheepishly and then saw the metallic plates on the ground, "Perhaps I can convince you for these plates?"

The plates were made out of a single sheet of metal, carefully crafted. They were also enchanted, and a light white glow was around them. Eris would then suddenly throw them towards him, "Catch!". She chuckled and then saw the Opal, "Ah! There it is!"

The plates would fly towards him but stop a few inches before hitting him. There they hovered for a second, before falling to the ground, or at least towards the ground as they hovered there as well.

"Here is your Opal!", she would then also name her price, which seemed a bit high for a piece of this size.

Magneus closely inspected the gem and took it in his magic to get a better look, "Yes this will do" he put it in his saddlebag and sealed it, "I honestly didn't expect you to have an Opal, they are rather rare in Equestria, iv'e been looking for some while, how much for it?" Magneus floated out of his saddlebag a smaller bag that held about 20 bits, "Id say 10 bits is adequate yes?"

Eris shrugged, "I don't find them particularly rare... although I only have this one so there might be something to it...!"

She would then blink at his price suggestion, "18." she would proclaim, not minding the plates hovering at her feet.

Magneus huffed and then put the bits onto the counter, he put two bits back into his pouch and put it back into his saddlebag, "Normally i wouldn't pay so much for such a gem, but i don't want to keep searching" he glared at her while he put it away, giving a fake smiled he trotted off, "Good having business with you..."

Eris blinked, "Hey! Wait! You are supposed to Haggle! Don't just walk away!"

She would walk around her counter, ready to follow the colt should the need arise. Not Haggling... pfff we are on a market!

Lately a lot of ponies just accepted her price... where is the fun?!

Magneus looked behind him and sighed, she was calling out to him again, something about haggling?

Magneus walked back over to try and explain.

Magneus stood a good few inches above most ponies, he was rather tall, "Sometimes ponies would rather not waste time, and others just don't care what the price is as long as they get it, and some like me, are a mix of the both. Iv'e worked from home for Celestia for a while now, she funds me so i can continue research, and i send the results back. And then of course she adds in a bit extra money for every day things i need"

Magneus was rather annoyed having to explain to her, he would rather just buy the food he wanted and get back to research.

Eris looked up to the Colt as she was of smaller statue. She was used to people talking down on her, so she didn't really pay attention to that.

"Seems like you don't know how it works then. If you want to buy something, you haggle for it. Or don't you care for what ponies sell?"

She asked in a dramatic voice, she also raised it a bit so everyone around was able to hear what she said.

"No Sir. I am sure you are /busy/, but if you want to buy something from me, it just isn't another 'purchase'."

She declared this with a firm voice, wether she made it all up on the spot or not was unclear, but it sure sounded serious.

"If you have a problem with me getting supplies, then take it up with Celestia" Magneus scowled, he didn't enjoy ponies talking back to him in that manner.

Magneus was never one to quite stand up for himself, he would rather just let it be, but this mare obviously did not, of course he could go on all day about how he didn't care and why he shouldn't care about haggling.

"I wouldn't give a parasprites recreational system if i had to pay 100 bits for it"

Magneus lightly joked, he heard that one from a old Canterlot friend a while ago, but he was also half serious.

Eris frowned, "Then give the Opal back." She sounded a bit annoyed.

She also seemed not to believe him about his relation to Celestia, but did not make that apparent. "If you are not ready to haggle for the Opal place it back. I never told you that you can take it." Her voice took another turn and was now a lot sweeter and compassionate than before. "Come on, it's not hard. And if you don't know how, and that is perfectly fine, I can teach you." She would also smile.

"Or i can just place a spell on you, that works too"

Magneus closed his eyes and leaned down, pointing his horn at her and then made his horn glow, but nothing happened, he hoped this would be a slight scare.

Magneus raised back up and sighed, nodding his head back and forth at the same time, "I already paid for the opal and i'm not giving it back. You said yourself, 18 bits, i gave you them and took the opal. if you wish to take it back from me, then please by all means. Try"

Magneus now had the widest grin he probably had in a long time, "But seriously, i really need to just get going, buy what i need to buy and return home. Sta- i mean, follow me, if you want. I really just don't care"

Magneus's smiled faded rather fast as he walked along, purchasing a few things and putting them in his saddlebag.

As he was about to cast a spell on her Eris instinctively took a few steps backwards. As nothing hit her, she was more confused than angry. She remained in thought for a moment, wondering what he might have done to her. She would quickly check herself and turn around. As her things were exactly how she left them she sighed. It wouldn't have been the first time some stuck up client demolishes her belongings.

She would turn for 180 degrees again and just barely heard what he said before he himself turned around and continued shopping.

She wouldn't just let him go and quickly put her things onto the cart. Magically sealing it, and then followed Magneus. "Wait!", she would call out, she sounded suddenly a lot nicer then earlier.

Magneus occasionally turned his head to see if she was still following, when he finished buying everything he turned around towards the mare.

"Well i suppose if you're going to stalk me all day we should at least introduce ourselves"

Magneus cleared his throat and held out his hoof, "Hello, i'm Magneus, head master for Celestia's unicorn research team, pleasure to meet you" Magneus lied about the head master bit, but he is one of the most important ponies there.

Eris would listen to him and then chuckle. "Ooh...", she would smile and bow slightly, which made her even smaller. "I myself am Eris Green. Travelling merchant and Enchanter. I am pleased to meet such a high figure as you are Sir Magneus."

She would then look back up to him. "Canterlot hm? I was there just last week. I have to say they pretty much repaired everything after the changeling attack. I was absent during the attack and came just a week after it. Not a pretty sight... And did you hear? Celestia got defeated by their Queen... I would have loved to know how she did that. But I guess being a love feeder and taking Ms Cadence's to be husband as a source was pretty smart... Raw power sure is scary." She would just continue talking. "The spell Chrysalis used seemed to be unique, at least I didn't find a description about it anywhere. It didn't kill Celestia or hurt her in a major way, but sure knocked her out! She really is powerful. It is a shame Luna was unable to help."

Eris won't stop, until interr

"Well... actually i'm not head leader, i just like to see people's reactions. I'm just one of the more important ponies, quite like Twilight Sparkle"

Magneus smiled at his self comparison to Twilight, his magic capability was past hers, but he was certainly no Element of Magic, he waited for her to stop speaking before he continued on.

"So your an enchanter, obviously lesser than others. If you don't have a magic identify spell then i can teach it to you, considering there were things about your gems you didn't know"

Magneus used his time checking spell and sighed, "I should actually be getting home now, i will not mind you're 'stalking' as long as your quiet in my house, unless the occasional important or... slightly less important question comes along"

Magneus continued to head back home, not turning his head to check his follower.

"Aren't you quick to judge?", she frowned, "I don't care what you know, and an identify spell is already known to me. Thanks for the offer though."

She followed him home due to a lack of things to do and she felt like messing around with the colt a bit.

"Tell me where do you live? I hope it's clean... a stallion living alone always means trouble...", she chuckled and grinned.

"Or wait, this Twilight Sparkle... is she your marefriend? I'm not sure she would appreciate you taking home another mare. Who is not that bad either.", she said the last part in a more sensual voice before giggling lightly.

Magneus chuckled and shook his head, "She is the Element of Magic, don't tell me you have never heard of her? She actually lives right here in ponyville. I think she might like me though... its hard to tell, we used to be good friends but... then she started avoiding me, after the Chrysalis crisis"

Magneus bit his lower lip and remembered what else she said, "Yes my house is clean, i have a mai- well... i wouldn't exactly say 'maid', but she does come in every Tuesday, cleans and organizes everything, along with Extore's cage"

Magneus wouldn't tell her he was a falcon, maybe she thought he had a pony in a cage.

"Occasionally i run tests on him, all harmless... i think" Magneus let out a small evil chuckle at what he said

"Are you trying to teach him a Identify Spell as well?", she mocked him and chuckled a bit.

"So a maid huh?", she thought out loud... "I wonder what that is like.", she would follow him, mostly in thought.

"How is it like living with Freedom?", was then her sudden question.

She always asked this before following ponies like him.

"Actually i only asked the identifying question to you. Having a maid is nice i guess, i don't have to worry about cleaning a mess or putting something back where it was. As for freedom... why did you ask that, are you not free yourself?"

Magneus tilted his head to the side and turned around, coming to a halt in front of his house, "Don't tell me you're under some kind of contract" Magneus leaned in a little, not enough to invade personal space though.

Eris would lean towards him as well, their noses almost touching. She didn't care. Reservation was something she had left behind for quite some time already. Her voice was a mere whisper now, "Contract? No. I would never sign a contract with someone, that would be silly.", she giggled gently, "No, I am bound by other things. Moral values, money and time", Eris paused for a moment. "If I don't sell enough I will starve. When I don't follow Moral rules I will get thrown out of town. You don't have these problems it seems... Must be boring."

Magneus leaned back and sighed, "I do suppose other ponies don't have it as easy as i do. If you're low on funds why would you risk haggling to reduce price? You should be grateful i made you take my 18 bits" Magneus slightly scowled, if she was poor why would she just turn down money?

Magneus turned back around and walked inside, he nodded towards Extore who just stared back, he took out the food from his saddlebag and put it away where it belonged, he didn't feel like eating anymore.

Magneus sat down at his desk and moved around a few things. He levitated the Opal, a pearl, and put them in the fireplace he barely kept going, not for warmth but for the occasional spell, he heavily infused magic into each one and watched as they melded together in the fireplace, producing a rather loud crackling noise. He levitated a bucket of water over, pulled out the melded blob of purple and orange and put it in the water.

"There... a perfect stabilized singularity, took me a month to get this one little thing, and i finally got it... i need to report this to Celestia, well uh... after i test it"
