Bardock1343 7 August 27, 2012 Share August 27, 2012 I know most people draw merchandise like the real TV show and it looks cool and I wanna learn how to draw the same as MLP:FiM's art.
Bohtty 1,775 August 27, 2012 Share August 27, 2012 (edited) MLP:FiM is draw/animated using a program called Adobe Flash. It is a digital art format called vector art. This effect can also be obtained with a lot less hardware with Adobe's other program, Adobe Illustrator. Both programs are in the ballpark range of 500$, but they both have 30 trials and are easily an industry standard. A free alternative would be Ink Scape which has a horrible learning curve and is, imo, an all around piece of shit. :] As for how to actually draw the ponies (ie: technique) then I would suggest starting on paper. If you can't do it on paper then you won't be able to do it on the computer, simple as that. The computer does not somehow give people the ability to draw and many of the best artists in the world that work digitally also have a background in traditional drawing/painting. Dusty Soul 2,611 August 27, 2012 Share August 27, 2012 (edited) Basically what Bohitty said... Another good program to use that is free is GIMP. I just thought I'd add that to the list of free alternatives, because I personally find Inkscape hard to work with. I also want to draw MLP Fan art... You could start by tracing a picture from the show to get the form down. Once you have that, you could try to draw using a reference, then when you get really good you could do it without looking at any image. Inkscape is so complicated and horribly designed, but not impossible. Edited August 27, 2012 by Bohtty Legit signature made by Shift.

Inkscape is so complicated and horribly designed, but not impossible. It does have the tools to vector. I know this because of all the tutorials I've seen on Youtube for vectoring. Once your used to the software you can create very nice things. Soundcloud-------------------Facebook---------------------------Youtube

If you can't draw on paper then your probably going to have a problem drawing on the computer xD Legit signature made by Shift.

Bohtty 1,775 August 27, 2012 Share August 27, 2012 You can play most games with a touch pad, but it is virtually impossible to draw anything good with a touch pad. If your doing non vector digital art then you pretty much need a tablet. Legit signature made by Shift.

Noah 27 August 28, 2012 Share August 28, 2012 I know of a few people that use paint and/or GiF program to render already made pony pictures into signatures and avatars, not sure if you are looking for this exactly, but it would be a good starting point
