First impressions?

I think the only reason why I ever got hooked was when I started to appreciate and analyze writing after amazing myself with the crazy amount of stuff in tvtropes (as well as the amount of pony on that site too). I paid more attention to characterizations and wanted to know the characters themselves just for the sake of knowing them. Then, it kinda grew in on me.

 

I don't remember what I exactly thought of the first episode, but if you ask me today, I would say it's totally cheesy.

"What the hell is this crap?" (Actually, What I truly thought was the swearing version, but I don't swear...) "Why am I watchi- wait. That pony has an awesome voice." (Rainbow Dash) "I think I might like this show after all." So, it was RD who got me to like mlp. Fascinating.

"Well I never thought of that."

"Is it me, or is the purple one really pretty..."

I only started watching the show because of all the pony-related memes that kept showing up all over the Internet. My first thought when I sat down to watch was "oh man. i really, really don't want to get sucked into this." But it was too late.

I expected a childish show with rainbow colored ponies, and because of that expectation I got a much better first impression. The very first episodes being this good made me more interested, and I just kept going until I got hooked.
