I'm curious as to how many people wish for there to be more adventurous type story arcs in MLP.

 

I personally would like to see chunks of episodes to be dedicated towards arcs where the ponies do more than "slice of life" type scenarios, where they would have to utilize all that they've learned from the past (the gratuitous amount of character development that they've accomplished across both seasons, and what is to come for season 3) in building the bond they share together to overcome larger, more epic obstacles.

 

With this would come lots of world building, of course, which is something I'm always excited to see out of an episode of MLP, where they reveal more about the lively world that they live in. Like how Twilight just DROPPED the name of Tartarus out of nowhere in her time episode, along with the appearance of cerberus, I would vehemently enjoy it if concepts like that were expanded upon.

 

But just as a quick note, I still don't want them to detour from the original purpose of the show, which is to be wholesome for younger children. I wouldn't want for them to start making things really dark.

A balance of some story arcs here and there, but still having plenty of 'Slice of Life' episodes is my ideal desire. Slice of Life episodes are great for character development, without needing to use villains, traveling or any real plot. And that's what makes those episodes so interesting, because when a show is able to take something as simple as a regular day and it's events, and make it interesting to watch, that's something to give appraisal to.

 

But anyway yes, some adventure arcs with lots and lots of more Discord would be good, too. Ironically, Season 3 has been said to possibly be an ongoing arc all about the Crystal Kingdom, an idea backed up by the fact that there's only thirteen episodes thus far, and that the Crystal Kingdom has been in most references, leaked media, DVD covers, etc we've seen thus far of Season 3.

I actually love the adventure episodes better than the slice of life, daily lesson episodes, to be honest. If only ponies like Rarity and Applejack could be in more adventurous situations, Rainbow Dash and Twi already got the spotlight on those.

An equal balance of story arc and slice of life episodes is perfect. Even though season 3 is probably going to be a story arc, so that I'm actually quite excited for.

A overall balace between the two would be perfect like every 2 story arch episodes then a slice of life episode or vice versa even either way is fine by me.
