Master Chief 184 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 (edited) Intro Does this need any explanation? They totally ruined it. While the actual theme, in my opinion, was ruined with David Tennant, the intro for Series Seven is all wrong. Take a look and compare the two: Doctor Who 2009 Intro (David Tennant): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGocQJhlGTI Doctor Who Series 7 Intro (Matt Smith): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxoFSJ38xZk Problems: First of all, the TARDIS has VERY yellow lights on it in the new one *facepalm* Also, where did they get that font? MS Word 2007? And no, the video quality isn't bad. The time vortex just looks like shit no matter how you display now. Seriously, who made this?! Writing/Dialogue As I began watching Asylum of The Daleks on the day it aired, I had my hopes up for a slow, plot-driven, face fuck of a nerdgasm fest, but what I got was a fast-paced piece of garbage. One minute: Oh! Look it's Amy! Two seconds later: Oh, hi Doctor! Hey, is that girl a Dalek-human hybrid? Five seconds later: Hey, that make-up lady is one too! Oh! Look, we're on bloody Hoth! Ten seconds later: Hey, Amy and Rory are waving goodbye without saying a word that we see? I was extremely dissapointed. Story is what drives Doctor Who at its core. We want slow, two-parters that leave us with suspenseful cliff-hangers! But, alas, they wish to cater to all the CoD fanboys out there (i.e. People who throw story out of the window). This is why I have bought a Netflix account and stream David Tennant episodes every day. Characters Towards the middle of "A Town Called Mercy", we saw an overly aggressive Matt Smith pull out a gun on the townsfolk. NO NO NO NO NO! In the show it is stated that it is because "The Doctor was traveling alone for too long" Pfft. I call it lazy writing. The Doctor would NEVER take out a gun and threaten ANYONE with it. The only enjoyment I got out of "A Town Called Mercy" was the line: "Space Cyborg Cowboy Assasin". These are all just opinions, and if you for one enjoy Series Seven, I have no hard feelings for you. Maybe you do enjoy a more fast-paced experience, you know? We all have our favorite Doctors, companions, and series, but all of my favorite moments happen to be elsewhere. We're all Whoovians, so in the end, it doesn't matter. Edited September 26, 2012 by Master Chief Signature By PixiGlow Check Out Ponies At Play! null123456 759 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 I don't really watch Doctor Who. But I think the 2009 Intro is WAY better than the series 7 intro. I watched Series 6 a few nights ago. It was okay. But it got a little confusing. I guess I need to watch everything all over again.
techno915 408 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 I personally love how they reincorporated the David Tennant intro into the Matt Smith intro. It's also more likable for those who are used to Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, which I am. It looks much more sci-fi and adds more of a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey feel to it. But, to each his own. This is my opinion, and you have yours. Xanderal 23 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 (edited) I haven't had a chance to watch the new ones yet, so I really have no place in this discussion, but do you really think it's polite just flat out saying it sucks? I'm sure there are people who DO enjoy it. And "CoD fanboys"? Was that necessary? Edited September 26, 2012 by Xanderal

Doctor XFizzle 8,670 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 Series 7 definitely feels a bit more fast-paced compared to 5 and 6, but I don't think it's been all that bad. Yeah I think it could be better but right now it just feels like playful space romps with no real plot intertwining the episodes which is what I would be more in favor of. Reading a couple forums, people think the intro looks the way it does for a particular reason that's yet to be revealed. They've noticed the darker tone and how the TARDIS light like isn't fully functioning. Even though it's off to a slow start, I'm not ready to bag on S7 yet. I'm excited for Saturday because ZOMG WEEPING ANGELS 2 MLP Forums' resident timelord, sports dilettante, and purveyor of wit and humor~*Traveling Timelord Nonpareil*~

Archangel 143 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 I agree, the Matt Smith episodes are all beginning to feel same-y and instant gratification writing style that I dislike. Asylum of the Daleks and A town called Mercy were horrible. Though, not for the same reasons as OP. The Doctor has used guns and threatened people with them before. Asylum of the Daleks completely broke the Daleks' character. What happened to all the other times Daleks killed Daleks just because they were impure? Why are we back to the old style with no explanation other than "The fans didn't like it."? What happened to Daleks only having one emotion, hate? Matt Smith's Doctor doesn't seem to have a pop-culture thing going on like Tennant's, and yet that's all he does, constantly say the same bow-tie lines, referring the show to its self over and over resorting to poor puns and innuendos in order to try and make someone, anyone, laugh. I thought throwing Rory in would bring a nice, new dynamic to DW where the companion finally didn't travel with the Doctor alone and didn't love the Doctor. Well, turns out not, looks like I'll have to stick to Doctor Whooves Adventures by Loyal 2 Luna and the Radio play by the same name by Squeak for that. Argh, very unhappy with the latest seasons. None of the clever mind-bending plots (No pun intended) that I fell in love with from Seasons 1-4. 1 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." Luke 6:37 "In the beginning, God created the heavens, the Earth, and Octavia, who is best pony." null123456 759 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 (edited) ZOMG WEEPING ANGELS This. This is by far the greatest statement in the history of Doctor Who. I may not be a ultra fan, but I love weeping angels! There They're so cool. But series 7 is still a bit of a bummer. Solar Wind 596 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 You're gettin a bit butthurt with this. Why does it matter what color the Tardis' lights are? Same with the font if YOU want to make the show go right on ahead but dont criticize the people who DO make it unless you can do better. Also he did'nt pull a gun on the townspeople he pulled it on the Calhan because he was endangerng the townspeople. Amy said that because Im sure its going to be a big part later on. I think matt smith is a great doctor and there's no reason to get mad at him, or anyone else. Also the fast paced stuff Im kinda in favor of becuase it gives you the challenge of trying to keep up with the story! 2 See, I'm Greed. I want everything you can think of. Money and women, power and SEX. I want everything this world's selling! and immortality's topping the list!

I may not be a ultra fan, but I love weeping angels! There so cool. But series 7 is still a bit of a bummer. I don't like Weeping Angels anymore (or Cybermen), and I have good reason. I've had two Doctor Who dreams, one where I was on the run from Cybermen, and the other where I was trying to escape a Rome full of Angels. I pissed myself in both. Pachirisu 43 September 26, 2012 Share September 26, 2012 I'm not really bothered about the intro...I just find it really hard to enjoy Doctor Who now. I used to love it...action figures, novels, birthday cake, the lot, but now...ehhhh. I enjoyed Matt Smith in his first series (I much preferred him to Tennant), but the last series did me in (River Song irritated me massively) and this one just all seems really half-assed. I can't really put my finger on what's wrong with the latest series...all I really know is that if this was the first I'd ever seen of the series, I wouldn't be very interested in watching more.
Master Chief 184 September 27, 2012 Author Share September 27, 2012 and this one just all seems really half-assed. I literally cannot agree more. I am SO disappointed in the BBC for even airing this garbage. Now I know why my cousin calls the show "A gay show about a retarted time traveler for six year olds". I used to really argue with him over that one, and while I don't feel as strongly about this season, I still agree with him. P.S. Series Seven is all he had seen when he made that statement. I showed him a few Tennant episodes and now he's hooked. That really says something... 1 Signature By PixiGlow Check Out Ponies At Play! We're all Whoovians, so in the end, it doesn't matter. I think the point of the Doctor's resorting to using a gun in "A Town Called Mercy" was a pretty interesting way of offering a glimpse of the "other" Doctor; the one before companions. In every season, the Doctor's enemies know him as a man full of hatred, a walking death threat, a destroyer; but we NEVER see that side of him. Sure, he'd get angry on occasion, but he'd never do something anywhere near as brutal as the Doctor that his enemies make him out to be. I think "A Town Called Mercy" was a clever way of revealing a tiny glimpse of that "Destroyer". It seems like they wanted to convey that traveling with companions is the only thing that keeps the Doctor civil and humane, and after traveling alone for so long, he began to revert to the image of horror and hostility that killed both the Daleks and the Time Lords way back during the Time War. I've got an idea! No..... No, wait; it's just a concussion....
