Xero1 124 October 3, 2012 Share October 3, 2012 (edited) ALL ART WILL BE POSTED ON POST #1 I noticed that a lot of my art in Derpy in deep ponderment was being ignored the further people had to scroll down. So I figured I'd just post It all on post one. I will Edit this post as I add more art in the future. This way you don't have to look through all the posts just to find the art. I will continue posting my Vectors in this thread. Some minor changes and corrections have been made based on comments and critiques I have recieved. Please keep em comin. It really is the best way I can improve. Check back later for More art and updates. Thankyou. Derpy in deep ponderment Fluttershy: I think the Bronies are stalking me. Pinkie eats her own tail My OC Jaster Shadowcaster My first Vector commision Mario's OC Refrence material My production Nagisa Pony (clannad crossover) Derpy vector experiment this is mostly just me playing around in illustrator trying to figure out what i can do and what styles work. Jokuc 8,173 October 3, 2012 Share October 3, 2012 (edited) Well they're pretty good actually. The drawings could get better though, it'd be easier to make a vector of it and it would look better. Anyways, a thing I noticed is that you haven't really made all line edges sharp, as seen on Derpy's hoof, Derpy's eyebrows, and her ear, you have forgotten to make the edges of the lines sharp. You should not forget to make all points where you put down a new node curved or else the curves will look edgy. I could see this at two places in Fluttershy's hair and one time in the "My Production" pony's tail. (If you look to the very left (almost about middle) of the tail) Oh and at Derpy's and some places of Fluttershy's mane I could notice that the node edges aren't sharp I don't really know which program you're using to create these (tell me?) but I know there's a setting in Inkscape where you can make all node edges like these sharp automaticly. Also I think that you should make the outlines of the ponies' bodies a little bit thicker. But overrall, they look pretty good. Especially the last one Edited October 3, 2012 by Jokuc

Especially the last one Unfortunatly i had no control over the drawings quality. The person commisioning me provided it as refrence and I did my best to make a vector based on it. I am using Adobe Illustrator. I just started last month so I am still getting the hang of it. I haven't found a tool that'll make the node edges sharp without losing the curves in my lines. I'll need to explor more. however I am shying away from using strokes as much as i used too in favor of custom shapes designed to look like strokes (as that allows a bit more control over things like that. Mario's tail looks like its two shapes overlapping... I need to position that better. Thankyou for the critique I really enjoy your comments. Jokuc 8,173 October 3, 2012 Share October 3, 2012 @@Xero1, Oh I thought you had made the drawings. Hm I don't know how to fix the sharp edge thing in Illustrator since I prefer to use Inkscape, but I'm sure there is some setting somewhere. Xero1 124 October 6, 2012 Author Share October 6, 2012 New art Added: Derpy vector experiment. Made in Adobe illustrator to test different ways of vectoring... i think i should at some gradient shadows though. please tell me what you think Check out my Art threads everypony http://mlpforums.com...tor-art-thread/ and http://mlpforums.com/topic/35635-01s-traditional-art/#entry847552 I love getting critiques and such. Silverwisp the Bard 2,353 October 7, 2012 Share October 7, 2012 Pretty good stuff, especially on the manes/tails. Your main problem atm seems to be that your anatomy seems a bit off in places (Fluttershys ankle joint poking out too far, the shape of Derpys head...). This is how I learned to to draw ponies: Just doodle a lot, it will do wonders for your art My Art Thread, updated (almost) daily Tomorrow will take us away, far from home No one will ever know our names But the bard songs will remain. Dusty Soul 2,611 October 7, 2012 Share October 7, 2012 Very nicely done, I only see one main problem with it. Some of the proportions are a little off. The Nagisa pony's eyes are very well done. Overall all of them are rather good. Soundcloud-------------------Facebook---------------------------Youtube

This is how I learned to to draw ponies: Just doodle a lot, it will do wonders for your art yeah I am doodling with traditional but the digital stuff is still new to me, I'm not sure if i could pull just a doodle in vector... hmm i'd have to think about that. I actually used that exact refrence when i made the nagisa pony. thanks for your input Very nicely done, I only see one main problem with it. Some of the proportions are a little off. The Nagisa pony's eyes are very well done. Overall all of them are rather good. I've noticed some of the proportions are off too, I'm not too sure where its going wrong but I heavily suspect its mostly in the head, hind legs and the lower portion of the forelegs. Are there any specific areas you notice proportional difficulties? I'm pleased you think they are good Check out my Art threads everypony http://mlpforums.com...tor-art-thread/ and http://mlpforums.com/topic/35635-01s-traditional-art/#entry847552 I love getting critiques and such.
