How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I sat down and watched an episode. I've been hooked ever since.

I judged this show too quickly. I never actually watched an episode until a few months ago, and now I'm hooked. How did you guys get hooked on the show?

Well, hello there! I know the feel of not knowing how great the series was until giving it a chance. Anyway, it is great to see new faces, and I hope you enjoy the forums!

My story isn't thrilling. May 20th of last year, a fine gentleman on another forum came in raving about ponies. Well, not really raving. He said ponies were awesome, the show defies expectations, and to forget what I remember from the 80s and 90s because FiM has nothing in common with the shows from those periods. I like to think of myself as a fair and levelheaded guy, so I discarded all preconceptions and gave the show a try starting with episode 1.

 

The first thing I noticed was the novel animation style and its high quality (which has since improved). Spike and Twilight's first conversation was enough to make me feel endeared towards them because the clever scripting and talented voice acting created a sense of endearment between them as well. Seeing an animator have a little fun with his work by giving Derpy her signature cross-eyed, lip-biting expression and Spike wearing a lampshade at a party told me everything I needed to know about the show's sense of humor. The Elements of Harmony and the conclusion of episode 2 obviated the show's moral underpinnings. At that point I knew that I loved everything about it.
