Crating an Character, Suggestions?

So, recently, I drew a random Earth pony, and I want to use him as an icon, But I need to decide on few things-

 

- Name?

 

- Special Talent?

 

-Backstory?

 

-Personality?

 

 

I'm going to use him as a persona, or/and a roleplay character

Well, as for his special talent... what's his Cutie Mark? Or is that just a temporary one?

 

He looks like he'd be a pretty intelligent pony, although rather impatient. Maybe a little on the quiet side. But that's just me.

 

Name: A lot of the time names have to do with a pony's personality or special talent. That should probably wait until last.

 

Backstory: If you ask others to make your pony for you, your pony won't truly be yours. But, once you decide upon your special talent and personality, try and think of how he would have discovered his talent, and what happened, if anything, that gave him the quirks that make him different from other random ponies.

 

*EDIT* I'd like to add that that's a really good drawing you got there. I wish I could draw like that. When you're done with him, look for my vector tracing thread. I'd be perfectly happy to digitize him for you.

Names: Connect or Converse or Breaker

 

Special Talent: Works at Mayor Mare's office, specializing in all things communication

 

Backstory: Up to you man

 

Personality: Laid back, but gets things done. He never yells, but does not shy away from being assertive when need be. Though crucial to the Mayor's office, she only talks to him once and awhile. She feels he will get more things done if she leaves him alone.

Personality: Laid back, but gets things done. He never yells, but does not shy away from being assertive when need be. Though crucial to the Mayor's office, she only talks to him once and awhile. She feels he will get more things done if she leaves him alone.

 

I could see this. I could see him being the communications guy. He fits the stereotype made by various movies and videogames for "Guy who sits behind computer making sure we know what we're doing".

Well, When I was drawing him at first, I thought of making the character a bit more on the technological side or "something that has to do with electronic music",

His cutie mark is temporary, the one you see in the pic is a 3.5 mm phone input, common plug for headphones or stereo, alternately, his cutie mark is a mouse, or a usb input.

His special talent is the ability to manipulate electronics in a creative way, in this case, wires and programming. How he got the cutie mark? That's what I'm going to work on.

I agree, Connect fits pretty well. And I'm thinking the laid back, can do attitude still fits for someone in diplomacy rather than communications, or for circuitry, as far as that goes.

 

Is that what his cutie mark is? I honestly couldn't tell. If he's going to be in foreign relations, though, you might consider changing that to a Fleur de Lis or something.

I'm just going to make a more template personality rather than giving him occupations from the start, but thanks anyway!, I got some really cool ideas from this forum, I was just stuck with a few things. Looks like I can go finish it.

Use what-ever name you feel suits your character best and one that you like of course. with back story, use what-ever you want, but try not to make it fix to your personal life i/r/l as that can put a lot of people off... Don't make him/her too strong or too weak. and from personal experience, I believe that not many people like alicorns so try not make one...
