DoctorWhovian1902 596 December 4, 2012 Author Share December 4, 2012 (taking a psychoanalytic approach here) maybe there's some sort of feelings towards the show that you have repressed? Were/are you ever embarrassed about watching MLP? Yes, I was a closet brony for about a half of a year. I once talked about the fandom in a general "I'm not involved in this but it's interesting" way because it was featured in our newspaper (specifically BroNYcon). My parents just scoffed at the fact it was grown males liking the show, my sister called it "random" (yet she was the most accepting of it herself. She's not a brony/pegasister, but I'm working on that. It's a long story, trust me.), and my friend called the entire fandom "gay". So yeah, it was hard to be proud about something nearly everyone disapproves of. It's still hard, to be honest. And it doesn't help in the slightest when you're put on the spot with your unhelpful parents. Here's the deal, we were at dinner and they spent the entire time looking up bronies. They eventually got onto "My Little Brony" and were looking up meme photos. Who knows what they saw there...Of course I was somewhat uncomfortable about, as previously stated, being put on the spot, as well as having my parents so obsessed over learning about this, but they blamed my embarrassment on the show, saying that if I'm "embarrassed for them to find out (and I use that term lightly) more about the show, I shouldn't be watching it." I mean, is that fair or even logical? Seriously, is it?
