Zacharias 191 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Twilight SparkleHow did you find MLP Forums?: I was told that this might be the right place for me...for the Anti-nswf brony I am How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: It's the standard "curiosity got the better of me" story all over again Hey y'all! I'm a 17 year old brony from a "far way land"... Sorry if my English is really bad, I've been learning it for 11 years now, but it's still my second language and I'm bound to screw up every once in a while... So...I bet you're asking why I'm here...and why I'm saying that I'm one inch away from leaving the fandom...once I'm done with everything I'm working on over here heh. I became a brony in November 2011 and when I finally gave in and watched it and realized what I was getting into, I knew right from the start that I'd have to keep this a secret from my family because I wouldn't be able to predict how they would react to this. So that's how months gone by...whenever my mom was about to enter my room I would quickly close everything pony related and bring up a window that's not suggestive...and I quickly got fed up with doing that. So I started looking for a community, a place where I could forget my problems and sort of...take this thing seriously. And then my never-ending stream of disappointment and anger began. I got introduced to gore and rule 34 content, and when I first saw a humanized you know what...I freaked out...I usually just roll my eyes and forget about stuff like that but that time it hit me hard...simply the fact that I was following a fandom with people like that made me think I was crazy for reals. Same with fanfics...the first one I tried to read was about TS running around with a sniper rifle and using it...this took all my motivation to get into brony stuff...I hope you understand. But I still wanted to create something. It's kind of a habit of mine...to create something connected to what I enjoy. Being a closet brony meant that drawing was out of the question...I never attended a musics class either...so the only thing left was making a game...or participating in the creation of one, or both actually. And it got me into music, I taught myself and now I'm part of 3 MLP projects...but once I'm done I don't know what to do...I'm likely just going to stop watching the show and never be a brony again...it's just the community is not what I was expecting it to be like...Then again it all started on 4chan so whatever... So is this place different? Is this where the "wierd" bronies who enjoy the show for what it is come to avoid ever bumping into gore content? Thanks for taking the time to read all this nonsense 3 Your signature is harmful towards the rights of Hasbro, and has been terminated as a result. You have the obligation to accept this. bcd34a 51 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 Do not hide that you like my little pony, like what Feld0 told me in my status. There is no point in hiding it. And your parents reactions wont be as bad. Im male my parents are the most strict and overprotective parents, and they did not care. My mom did not, my dad just thought I was joking. He just makes fun of me when he sees me watchng it but hes never home when I watch it so yea. Then if your about ot stop being a brony,I hope you still stay here. And I hope you stay as a brony, and weird bronies, um idk but i know one in a steam group, onlyy thing I can say right now is: You can always wait for the new eps and if your not gonna be a brony no more. Goodbye I guess.

I have been here since August 2012, the first day a hacker on my skpe friends list told me to watch the show. Aaaaah I still remember that day when I was like telling every1 on skype, should I watch it? for like 7 hours Then once I watched it, I guess I became a fan boy instantly. And yes this community is the best and nicest I've been on so far Edited December 9, 2012 by NullCity

Well my parents got divorced 6 years ago so it's just my mom but still...I just can't risk telling her about something...what if she's going to hate me for it? If I don't have friends to back me up, it would be a disaster...and don't get me started on what would happen if my classmates found out about this...the remaining 2 years of high school would be hell...probably because I'd be stressed out for supressing my agression... But thaks for the kind words anyway, and no, I'm not leaving...not yet, I'll have to wait and see. Your signature is harmful towards the rights of Hasbro, and has been terminated as a result. My mom just got mad at me for like a few hours and she got over it. She was like what she did when she found out when me, my sis, and bro learnt bad words, "If they know it, oh well, they learnt it" That was similar to her reaction of me liking my little pony, "if he likes it, he likes it, i cant change him"
#1 Flutterfan 174 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 I am a male, 23 year old, brony. [Hiiii flutterfan] And I have a problem. Just kidding--but seriously. Don't be embarrassed, the show is good overall. Use the same logic I do when I refer to it to people who give me crud about it.1. It's a cute show, and it's well drawn. 2. The plot of it is "eh" but the character development is great. 3. Fluttershy [insert your favorite pony here] And if they ask you about the Rule 34 stuff--if you feel like I do about it. Just say "Look, man, they are friends--the fact that it's made by those people--just goes to show that's what they like. I don't. It's the same reason why I don't look up the Cowboy Bebop stuff with Spike and Faye" for that very same reason "IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN."Your mom won't be mad at you she'll probably rag on you for a little while but nothing serious, probably. If anything you CAN try to hide it from her--but otherwise it's not as bad as watching... well, I'm sure you can find something much worse to watch that she wouldn't approve of. It's a kid-friendly show, the characters are cute, and you shouldn't be ashamed to like it. If you have to lie; just say you saw the Memes of it first, and you wanted to see what everyone was crazy about and that's it. My Pony obsession ends at AMVs, and remix'd videos. I don't go onto THAT part of the internet where Fanfics and RPs lie. I don't judge people who roleplay or write pony-stuff. But it's not my deal. Regardless, here's an article that may help you out.http://www.dailydot.com/society/my-little-pony-brony-study-results/ #1 Flutterfan has and plays:PSP, Ps2, Ps3, PS4, Xbox360, N64, Gameboy Color; Nintendo SwitchPSN: Loydna, Live: Loydaminc May/not friend you--but will talk to you~
Jack Durango 119 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 Welcome to the Internet, soldier! I hope you left your innocence back in the barracks! Out here, anyone in the world can access and contribute their thoughts, ideas, and creations! This is a place of opinion, confusion, misconstruing of words and intentions, and danger under every intrepid step you take! You must be TOUGH! You must have RESOLVE! You must LEARN TO IGNORE! Ha, yeah, if only there was an internet drill sergeant like that. But yes, this is the Internet. Anything you can imagine has a good chance of existing here. I often refer to it in conversation as having "the whole world, and then some, at your fingertips." Do not be ashamed of what you like. What others think of My Little Pony, or what they think of you for being into it, poses no threat to who you are. Only if you let it. I think Eleanor Roosevelt said a quote similar to that. It does not even biologically threaten you, which is why a lot of social systems and beliefs don't make sense to me. (It's simply because we think too much. -_- ) And if you see things you don't like, you can pretty much just ignore them. People create, write, and draw those things mainly to get attention, not so much because they feel a truly deep connection to it. They just want to do something no one else has done or thought of yet. Which is really hard to do, when you've got so many users on the Internet contributing to a lot of the same stuff. Trust me, though, as horrifying as some things on the Internet seem, nothing is as terrifying as what goes on in real life. So, yeah, you'll power through. Welcome to the Forums, by the way!! Have fun, take it easy, nothing's personal, and yes, you will find others just like you to fit in with! Here, you can be my friend! Peace, love, and ponies, Jack Durango (P.S. Hungary, huh? Wow... That's so cool! You just never know where people hail from.)
Esk 201 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 Completely understandable. There's always going to be those r34 and gore fans, but don't let them ruin the experience. To me it's nothing more than a preference, even if it is deviant by the standards of most. When my parents found out, they didn't really care. They tease every so often (like when a commercial for an MLP ripoff comes on) but they're not spiteful about it. I don't know if yours are the same way, but you never know. They might be interested in it as well, who knows? I see that you're one who enjoys wholesome fanmade content. This site has a specialty for that, you'll enjoy it. There are many others who understand your "mixed" emotions torwards the fandom. I say get to know more people here, not only are they welcoming, but they might show you an entirely different aspect to bronies. Speaking of welcomes, welcome to the forums. there's plenty of friends to be made, and have fun.

Skystrider 11 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 i am also a closet brony when it comes to my family, and everyone but my closest friends. being in AFROTC(if you dont know what that is i basically train with them my 4 college years then commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the US Air Force) i CANT tell my fellow cadets(and especially not my cadre lol ) about my love of the show. and i would never tell my parents. not that they wouldnt understand(my dad still loves bugs bunny and my mom still likes the Flintstones), i am just not on great terms with them(plus my brother would never let that go xD). so i understand how you feel about coming out of the closet. but when it comes to the community you must look past the gore and rule 34, its something every brony must do. remember that every fandom that has ever existed has these...less tasteful elements. just ignore them and look at all the spectacular art, music, and fics that bronies have made. i would suggest reading My Little Dashie if you want a great fic to read ill bet everyone here understands what you are going through friend. so welcome to the forums! you will find many friends here. i can assure you. /)
Arcium_Fox 184 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 1. It's a cute show, and it's well drawn. 2. The plot of it is "eh" but the character development is great. 3. Fluttershy [insert your favorite pony here] The plot is why many becomes a brony, but they stay a brony because of the community, the fan art and the show My SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/nightisallthesky
