Clouds as a place to calm down

In Wonderbolts Academy, the show proved that pegasus ponies not only have the ability to walk on cloud, but also dive in, get stuck, mold, plush, and even slide on clouds. I still don't understand how Rainbow Dash is able to make a solid cloud to save her friends, considering the fact that they were still under that spell from Sonic Rainboom that enabled them to walk on clouds. But yet I have an OC unicorn, Emerald Wishes, a timid, green, smart, often nervous unicorn, but he's very sweet and kind and has a heart of gold. Under the tutorship of Princess Celestia, whom he worries about her safety, which Celestia responds, "Don't worry, Emerald, I have the power and the skilled ponies to fight off any threat that comes to Equestria. I haven't lost my ability to fight." He also looks up in the sky and sees pegasus ponies flying gracefully and fiddling around on clouds, which he wonders about their softness and comfortableness, considering the fact that he gets quite anxious sometimes and requests something that will feel quite amazing against his body. In short, he wants to feel the sensation of a cloud in order to calm him down, and to have the feeling of being able to fly really fast without wearing out as much as you would if you were running on all four hooves. And considering that he has a relationship with Princess Celestia, the most powerful equine in all of Equestria, both magicwise and statuswise, he would like to ask her royal highness for a pair of wings like a pegasus pony's in order to grant his little wish, if he manages to help save Equestria by using friendship or something like that, like the show says, yet this show was never about battling, fighting, and kicking booty. Do you think clouds can be a good place for you to calm down and feel extremely comfortable.

Considering that Rainbow Dash spends most of her time sleeping in them I think they would be. Not sure how a unicorn could use them like that without a clould walking spell.

Doh!  I just posted some thoughts relevant to this discussion in the episode thread.  Let me copy and paste the relevant paragraph:

 

What about the tactic Rainbow Dash uses to break her friends' fall? Creating a hyperdense cloud to save them makes me think that all ponies share all traits on some level. A cloud, no matter how dense, could never stop a falling solid object in real life. So the only way this could work is if earth ponies and unicorns have enough pegasi genes in their lineage to walk on clouds IF they are dense enough. But considering Equestria's physics are more cartoonish than earth's to begin with, it may just be possible to stop solid objects with a dense cloud there.

 

And thinking back to Cutie Mark Chronicles, a swarm of butterflies wouldn't be able to stop a pony in real life either.  My hypothesis here:  Butterflies' bodies contain water just like any other organism.  So a bunch of butterflies can probably simulate the hydrostatic field of a cloud strong enough to stop a falling pegasus

The solution is obvious.  Twilight cast a cloudwalking spell on her friends before flying up in her balloon. 

 

As for the other thing, you can always tell when derpy is put on cloud detail — they all look like muffins.
