Pen Quille and Steel Accord have just met on a Ponyville street. Though nervous, the young mare has struck up a conversation with the stallion. To her amazement, Steel also shares her talent of writing. Will the two creators spin a tale of love or heartbreak?

Pen Quille nerrvously plucked at her braided purple mane, shuffling her hoofs and looking around awkwardly. She was supposed to meet this handsome, but mysteyious colt, 4 years her senior. And, as usual, she was a nervous wreck.

"Calm down Pen Quille, it's just a first date. You'll live. I mean, even if you stuter and yell to loudly, I'm sure it will be fine. He really likes you. I can tell" the young 14 year old Peagus and her sister said kindly, her usual teasing tone gone.

She flew down to her sister's level and gave her a hug. Even though they often fought, Soarin' Rainbow still looked out for her 18 year old autistic sister. She had slyly been watching the two blushing ponies on the street, always keeping a protective eye on Pen Quille.

Pen Quille hugged her back and smiled. Her sister might have tricked her into asking Steal for a first date, but she was kind of happy she did. Pen Quille never had the guts to do that.

Steel checked his reflection in a second story window, making sure his mane looked right. He had showered and tried to make himself hygienic. Steel had to admit he was a bit nervous. Pen seemed sweet, but she was also 18. Legal technically, but some might still raise a few eyebrows. Still, he was determined to show her a good time. Just as he was about to round the corner, he saw Pen talking to a younger pegasus filly. He dove behind a chimney to hide himself.

"Calm down Pen Quille, it's just a first date. You'll live. I mean, even if you stuter and yell to loudly, I'm sure it will be fine. He really likes you. I can tell" She said. "Must be her sister." He remarked. Steel eased himself down to the ground and walked around the corner. "Good to see you Pen. You look lovely this evening."

Pen Quille jumped in surprise and shock, her face growing steadily warm. "Oh, um hi-hi-hi Steele how-how are you? Are you doing alright? See anything in the clouds lately? Hehe, uh, erm, yeah" Her face was almost bright red as she continued to giggle nervously.

Steel smiled and gently took her by the hoof. "Nothing to be nervous about. It's all fine. Let's go to the restraunt, shall we?"

Pen Quille nodded dumbly and followed without complaint. Her sister was about to follow.

"No need for a chaperone. I'll take good care of her. Trust me." He gave the filly a warm smile.

She looked suspicious but eased up. Something in the tone of his voice seemed true. "Okaaaaayyy. But bring her back by 11. No horseplay you two" giving the two her trademark smirk and wink as she flew into the clouds.

Both blushed profousely as they entered the restraunt. Pen Quille looked down at the hoof he was still holding and blushed. What was she going to do?

Little did Pen know. The eatery was just step 1 for their romantic evening. Still, dinner was always a nice ice-breaker. "I assume your guardian angel is your sister? Odd how she seemed to be the younger, yet was lecturing US about not staying out late." Steel chuckled. The waiter then decided to join them. "Good evening. What can I get you this night?" He asked. "Ladies first." Steel said, looking to Pen.

Pen Quille shook her head and laughed as she placed their orders. Her stuttering seemed to have disappeared and she appeared more relaxed. "She always watches out for me, what with my autism and all. I'm pretty naive" she admitted bashfully looking down at the breadsticks on the table.

Steel smiled and gently took her hoof. "Nothing wrong with that, my dear. I think it makes you more adorable. Oops, I-ugh-er"

Now the Peagus was the one who couldn't think of anything to say as Pen Quille went completely red.

"No one's ever said that about me..... they treat my autism as a disease or disability. Thank you" she replied softly, her eyes dewey.

How could time feel like it was standing still? When he looked into her beautiful purple eyes.

"I didn't know you were autistic. If you don't mind me saying, it doesn't show much." Steel sipped his soda before returning to his date. "M'lady, would you mind so terribly if I referred to you as Quille?" He munched some of the bread sticks and chewed thoughtfully without breaking eye contact.

She blinked and blushed. Usually everyone referred to her as Pen Quille. She despised nicknames. Her and Soarin Dash's mother had precisely given them their names, and she believed fully that a person should stick to their name. But something about the way his eyes sparkled and the way he cutely munched on his breadsticks couldn't help but soften her heart.

"That.... would be nice." she smiled softly, her eyes still dewey. Oh how her heart raced!!

"Nothing against your first name of course! You just wear your last one on your face. If you can forgive my rather familiar phrasing." Steel said with a raised hoof. "After all, most people don't call me 'Accord' weeeel." Steel put his hoof to his chin. "One brute did, but he quickly learned exactly why my name is 'Steel'." He said with a glint in his eye that said more than words were exchanged in that confrontation. "Forgive me m'lady. I didn't mean to be so verbose, but I do have a tendency to ramble."

Pen Quille looked at him a little fearfully. You... aren't, um, er violent..are you? I-I-I don't like violence. My friend Fluttershy and Honey Dew taught me about kindness and respect, as did my parents. Gosh she sure is something.... she's one of the most amazing ponies ever. I always kind og had a crush on her. " she quickly covered her hoofs with her mouth after what she just said. I...er....um...

Steel clearly left the wrong impression to his guest. "No not at all! I have a friend named Fancypants, he sometimes asks me to offer some personal protection. I fended off this criminal who attempted to mug him in the street. It seemed I did too well a job as he held a personal grudge and followed me home one evening. The thug yet lives. (Unfortunately)" Steel grumbled to himself. "My father taught me true courage is knowing when NOT to take a life, and for all his fury Sandstone was just a pathetic robber. I gave him a painful lesson with my sword, let him go, and he hasn't bothered me since. I wouldn't say I'm prone to violence myself. Part of the reason I did not follow my father into the Royal Guard, but . . ." Steel lifted his wing to indicate his cutie-mark. "It is a part of who I am. 'the Pen and Sword, in equal accord' the phrase by which my parents named me. A good stallion never seeks a fight, but is always ready for one."

Pen Quille looked more reassured as she relaxed her pose. "Oh, well, I suppose if it's for your own protection... then it's fine. It's actually quiet noble of you. " she said with admiration and a smile. Her cheeks warmed more as she stared at her guest intently.

Realizing what she was doing, she quickly buried her face in her hoofs. Why did her social awkwardness always get in the way?" tears trimmed her eyes as her chin trembled. Why was she so sensitive and such a crybaby?

Steel quickly rounded the table and put a hoof over her shoulder. "Don't cry sweet Quille." Softly as he could manage, Steel reached up with a wing to dab and stroke the tears away. "Shhhhhh It's okay." He looked her in the eyes. "Do you want to go outside and get some fresh air?"

Pen Quille snuffled as she felt the warm brush of wings against her cheeks. HWarmth radiatye through hert face, giving out a soft sigh.

She nodded her head. "Lets (sniffle) just go.

With that they payed the build and stepped out into the dark night, only lighten by the moon.

Steel just walked by Quille; unsure of how to proceed. Something was deeply troubling her but he couldn't tell what. Quille was sweet, beautiful, and delicate, like a fragile flower. As chauvinistic as it sounded, Steel found that attractive. Still, not wanting to outright ask what was wrong, he opted to change the subject and hope she would grow more comfortable. "So, you write as well? Tell me of some of your works." He asked.

Pen Quille snuffled and looked up at him, tears still brimming at her eyes. " Well, um, I usually write a lot of poetry about nature and what I'm feeling, and I love writing fiction and fantasy stories. But my favorite subject is-romance. "

Her face flushed as she pawed at the ground. Why was she telling him these things? Its not like he could really like her, right?

Yet something about his smile and mysterious, but kind intelligent manner alluredher. It even- she blushed harder at this- kind of turned her on.

"Wonderful!" Steel complimented. "I confess, though I prefer high action adventures in the style of Daring Do, romance is a weakness of mine. Even the best action stories have the protagonist fall for a . . . beautiful mare." Steel almost whispered those last two words as he looked intently at Quille. "Can I hear a synopsis of one of your tales of romantic venture?"

While Quille responded, Steel took a moment to . . . appreciate his companion. Her bright eyes, tear stained as they were, shone with kindness and tenderness. Her purple mane, done up in a ponytail, was adorable and looked soft to the touch. Steel was sorely tempted to run a hoof through it just to feel what it was like. Then her dark coat, supple and inviting. Quille certainly wasn't hard on the eyes.

Pen Quille stopped in mid sentence as she gazed at her handsome counter part. His face, tinted by the moonlight, shone with a soft radiance. Both caught the other staring and looked away.

"Ugh,um I-I um, thanks for the night. Better get home now"

She was about to move when she tripped over a hoof and fell atop of Steel. Her face burned strawberry red as she stared into the deep pools of his eyes.

Steel caught the tiny mare with his right front leg. They stared at each other deeply. "Are you all right, my lady?" He asked softly and whistfully. They were so close that Steel could feel her breath on his lips. A part of him yearned to cross that shallow gap but he would not. It would not be gentlecoltly to kiss a mare after she had tripped into you.

Pen Quille quickly tried to get up and get off him, her face a now burning crismon. I, der, um, I-

She was just pushing herself off and about to get off when she fell on top of him, but this time her lips meeting his.She thought of pulling away, but something held her back.

Their lips remained together, and slowly her tongue slipped into his. What was happening? Is if it was as if-no, her sister would NOT put a lust spell on her. Would she?

((OOC: How would she put a spell on you? She's a pegasus.))

Steel was certainly surprised by this turn of events . . . but not at all displeased with them. He returned Quille's passion, sliding his own tongue past her's. Steel pulled her closer to him and wrapped her in his forelegs and wings. He didn't want this to end but he didn't want to be unfair to Quille when she had already overcome a sizeable amount of self doubt for this.

He parted his lips from her's. He held her eyes in his and asked quietly.

"Would you like me to take you home, my lady?"

Her face burned in the darkness of night. What had come over her? What was she doing? This sudden turn made her blush profusely as she hurriedly got of the handsome mare and almost trip over her hooves.

"I, um I, I--I, I think it's best if we just forget this ever happened. Please take me home."

With a stoney cold silence between the two, the night had come to an abrupt end.

With a stoney cold silence between the two, the night had come to an abrupt end.

Steel flew Quille home, he had a horrible feeling in his stomach that he had done or said something untoward. Nevertheless, he respected the wish of his courted mare. As much as he tried to though, he couldn't forget the kiss. One just couldn't brush something like that under the rug.

He stood outside her door with her.

"Well, I'm certainly sorry you found tonight displeasing Ms. Quille." He leaned down to gently kiss her hoof. "Good night, and may Luna grant you good rest." He wished her off with a prayer.

Pen Quille stood in the dark space of her doorway, wondering, as she watched Steeles retreating form in the sky, what had gone wrong?

"So how was the date?" came a nonchalant fillys reply as she fluffed her mane and winked at her sister. Her smile immediately dropped the minute her sister glared at her and pinned her to the ground. She had never seen timid Pen Quille act like this.

"What's wrong?" she asked, perplexed by her sisters anger. Her sister muttered only two words "Lust Spell"

@@twilight24,

Steel returned home with a heavy heart. Quille was clearly uncomfortable, but she couldn't keep her hooves off of him. Again, not that he minded, he was just concerned for how she felt about her own feelings.

He then decided to write her a letter.

My Lady Quille,

Would you be at all interested in seeing me again? We could go somewhere a bit less crowded this time. Like an easy walk through Canterlot park. Whatever you decide. I am sorry if I made you at all uncomfortable on our date.

Sincerely,

Steel Accord
