Digital Art First Attempts

Recommended Posts

I recently got a tablet and I've been adapting to digital art. Here are three of my first attempts at drawing ponies. Any advise, criticism, or suggestions are welcomed. I'm thinking about opening OC drawing requests for practice, but I don't think I'm good enough yet.

A young version of my OC, Moonbeam:

Danger Dashie's OC, Firecracker (I had the reference already from a previous picture so I figured I'd just draw him again) (I just realized I forgot the horn <_< ):

Fluttershy (black line version. The other version didn't come out too well though):

What do you think?

They're okay for a first attempt (I especially like the Fluttershy drawing), but could use some work on the smoothness and rough edges/weird angles. I do like the color scheme you used on Moonbeam.

The lines are a bit sketchy, unless the sketchy style is what you're going for, that is. The proportions and shading are good, and you've got an original style. What program are you using to draw these with?

It's called Sketchbook Mobile. Other than Photoshop, it was the best one I could find that will work on my device, and it was only $2-3. It doesn't have a blur tool though, so I've been using SumoPaint on my computer to add those kind of effects.

Ahh, alright I see what you mean now. I misinterpreted it as a drawing tablet, not a mobile tablet. I have no idea on a good program to use for a mobile device.

Very nice! I like the Fluttershy drawing the best. At first I thought this was on a drawing tablet, but I was surprised to see it was on a mobile tablet. The only criticism I have is that the legs on your OC are a bit big. Looking forward to seeing more!
