Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

...I'm going to be blunt here: I love you, Misty. So does everyone else here. We're your family, not those people.

...Yes I do. You are a smart, witty, and beautiful girl. You are honest in your opinions, and you aren't afraid to speak your mind. That is why I love you.

Blunt is not the way to go here. There's a fine line between compassionate and creepy, my friend. Tread carefully.

There are no easy answers that I can give you Misty. You most certainly are in a bad physical circumstance. That can be destructive for one's soul. Perhaps you need to meditate or pray or take up a personal hobby. Something to nurse your spirit at least a small bit. I have heard some say that bronies watch this show because it gives them some small comfort after the stresses of life get to them.

I know that God loves you, I know that friends could love you, I know someone out there could love you as more than a friend.

Well unfortunately there are no hobbies I can take up down here, and not even the show will help since I get interrupted and brought down no matter what I do :( This will only make my depression worse and never let me heal -_-

...Geez...that IS creepy...wow. I am so sorry, Mist. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, if I did.

It's okay....just don't use the word love :(

As I said, there are no easy answers I can give. You have a plan though, that's better than most people who are depressed. I said before how God can help you but maybe not in ways that are so obvious. The best I can tell you is to have faith and keep an open mind as to how God can help you from within.

There just simply is no way he can help me -_- I just have to put up with all this and hope not to break in the process :(

Don't give up, Misty. Hope sprouts eternal.

What he said. Hope and faith are similar.

You must have faith in, more than God, yourself. Believe that you won't break.

I am perhaps one of the few Jewish bronies, of the reform branch, nevertheless, I have Christian friends and extended family, I believe interfaith relationships, besides I did not become a pious Jew, until I got into high school, my father wanted me to be well rounded. My temple has reform Jews, Hebrew Catholics and messianic Jews, all of us congregate, for feasts and festivals, although we have our differences, we still talk and discus anything, from politics to popular culture, it is our way to give each other a human moment, to be gentle and smart, it is better to have cooperation instead of confrontation. I am probably not the best Jew, I don't have a kosher diet, and I do celebrate Christmas with my Christian family, and I do get a Christmas tree, but I love Hanukkah, and I have a beautiful crystal menorah, also I have never celebrated Easter, but I do have my extended family over for Passover or Yom Kippur, so I believe faith is what the people make of it, for we could share so much with each other, and respect those who are different, whether you are a Christian or a Jew, I feel obliged and honoured to share my knowledge and humility with everyone.

You and I would get along just swimmingly. I champion interfaith-anything and share much of your sentiment on the subject of faith being what we make it.

While I have experienced many religions, they were always sort of "touch and go" for me. I never celebrated any holidays with my Hindu neighbors for instance. I admit, I'm envious of your experience.

Perhaps you could explain what a "Hebrew Catholic" is though? That's one variation I've never heard of.

Okay, a Hebrew Catholic is a branch of Catholicism, instead of looking to the Vatican or the pope, these Catholics look to the original Hebrew origins of Christianity, like the Tanakh, or the Hebrew Bible, plus they chant in Hebrew rather than Latin, they also look for books that are not canon in the standard bible, that are still written in Hebrew, they were never translated until much later, wikipedia has more on the Hebrew Catholics, finally, I think is really fascinating, I discover more about faith, through diversity and curiosity, which keeps me on my quest to learn more about human potential.

That's an interesting interpretation actually. I myself am a Gnostic Catholic, and I thought that was an oxymoron!  :P

Are you at all familiar with Gnosticism, my friend?

Yes, I learned about the Gnostics from the Discovery Channel, this too is very fascinating to me, for it drives my curiosity to uncover books I have not read before, written by people I may have heard of, for I think the Gnostics are a welcomed addition to faith, and it is good to hear from them, past and present Gnostics.

Anypony else see the atheist thread pop up and have the word "atheist" all in caps?

I'm obviously not going to partake. I have a rule, if you have no stake in the title, you have no stake in the thread. (e.g. I wouldn't post in a thread asking how females feel about an issue because I'm not one.)

Does anypony else get the feeling the caps was meant to evoke shouting or anger? Maybe I'm just being paranoid, and would be happy if that's the case and it's just meant to grab attention. Still, the idea of fellow bronies being angry simply at the presence of this thread makes me sad. It's not a competition or anything after all.

im a christian, but very laid back about it. as in, i believe in god and all that, but the rest? all these rules? no homosexuals? whos idea was this? if God truly spoke of this rule, then why does it feel wrong to hate them? becasue i believe it is. i will stand by my belief regardless of how many people may criticize me.

The Bible does not tell you to hate gay people, and as a Christian, you shouldn't. We're supposed to love all people. However, the Bible does declare it a sin, so my motto is, don't hate the person, hate the sin.

Are you expecting to be criticized?

"Yeah! I'm a brony, and completely open and secure about it! No matter what any of you say!"

"Good, because we didn't say anything and we weren't going to."

In Mass, we were once asked to pray for people who face prejudice because of their orientation. Hardly "no homosexuals."

To be blunt, if the all caps thread is somehow out of anger because of this thread. That says two things: 1. An insecurity in one's own beliefs. 2. They should avoid the Internet in general. Personally, I probably disagree with 90% of the positions people have on this site alone, but like an adult I accept that fact, and move on. If one can't dialogue with people who will fundamentaly disagree with your belief system because they hurt your feelings by simply having certain views (if someone was being uncivil that's another matter), the public forum in general is not for you.

If people can't have a meaningful dialogue about an issue, society will get nowhere. In fact it will decay, in my opinion.

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

I don't know if that's the case though, it just struck me as odd is all.

Maybe it would have been wiser if I had not brought it up to begin with?

Was a legitimate question in my view, and someone would have likely made the observation eventually. Best have it brought up and discussed in passing sooner than later.

As a Christian myself, I have to say no. Misty, have you ever heard the story of the Good Samaritan? If so, then you are in a similar situation: you are hurt, and people are ignoring you. I am willing to be the Samaritan and helping you get through this...if you choose to let me.

The way I see it: just because being a conservative Christian forbids me from supporting things like homosexuality doesn't automatically mean I have to be a jack@$$ bigot about them as well.

Not really sure how to respond to that. I'm glad you at least aren't actively against homosexuals.

But just as a Christian of similarly Libertarian bent, I don't see how either calls us to be against homosexuality.

I have no idea what that means.

That is for another thread to discuss. What a meant was to say that I don't think your political persuasion should mean you have to take action against the rights of gays.

And I certainly believe God doesn't want that of us either.
