LittleSis 62 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 I don't mind it if people forget my birthday. Honestly, it doesn't phase me a bit. I never question a person's friendship or loyalty if they forget my birthday. But apparently that's a big deal for some people. I know people who get really hurt and kind of offended if I forget their birthday. Now, granted, it's cool to remember birthdays. Especially for family, a best friend, a boyfriend/girlfriend and other *very* special people. But what about your other friends? Maybe people you don't see as much? Is it fair to expect everyone you're friends with to remember your birthday? Should you get offended or question a friend's loyalty if they forget? Anybody else get the cold shoulder for forgetting a birthday? ^(guideline questions...but feel free to bring up anything that applies) 1 …yay…
Night Shine 769 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 Honestly, I'm terrible at remembering things like dates of birthdays....I can barely remember the dates of my mom and dad's birfdai! >.< Nopony's ever been mad at me before for forgetting a birfdai, and i hope they never are. o.o I don't think you should be mad if somepony forgets your birfdai. It's kinda hard to remember all of your friends' birfdais, especially when you have lots and lots of friends :

I only have a few friends and they always remember my birthday but if its just acquaintances then its no big deal. If the forget once or twice no big deal but if they always forget they dont care about you. I got a cold shoulder once but he was over reacting cause he was in the process of becoming a she R.I.P. flimflam 18 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 Never had any of my friends say happy birthday, partially because my birthday is in the holidays. Only thing is, I try to give my friends birthday presents, but I don't mind.
Flutterbee 92 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 I am perfectly ok with nobody knowing it is my birthday. Last year though I received a gift from a friend on my birthday. He didn't even know it was my birthday and was just giving me a gift.

Agent505 661 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 Haha here we go. I'm not going to get offended if you forget my birthday, there's a good chance i'll forget yours too. If it's even slightly important, my brain says "nope" and throws it out. If it's totally irrelevant to anything even remotely important, my brain goes "Eeyup" and hoards it all in. There's no way I can care about remember everyones birthdays that I know, let alone do anything for them on that day - so I dont expect people to remember mine - i'd prefer it if they didn't to be honest. I'm the kind of person who likes to take life a day at a time and stroll on through, not go out of my way to do anything crazy, but I like to make people happy, and make sure I go to sleep happy the next morning but birthdays to me are just...another day, really. Why are they so special? 1 I've been watching you, all this time.

Why are they so special? well said agent...You sound like a person like me who wants to make people smile everyday. i'm the type of person who is FAR more impressed by a soul like you who spends EVERYday making a life better...not some arbitrary day where something that they had no control over happened to them well said...and keep up the good fight...make every day better for people Edited January 8, 2013 by Cupcake Ice Cream

Abstract 832 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 My parents hardly even know how old I am, let alone remember my birthday. (Not for a lack of caring, mind you; same goes for pretty much everybody else they know, including themselves.) Myself, I'm OK with remembering birthdays and what have you, but it almost never clicks when that day arrives. For example, on the day of a friend's birthday, I will not remember. They would ask me, "What day is my brithday?" I could tell them right off the bat what day it is (the current date), but it still won't register. Not until they would ask me the current date would I finally have that light-bulb moment. I'm a decently intelligent person, just... really slow sometimes. To the point of the thread, people forgetting my birthday may be a bit disappointing, but it's nothing I'm going to hold a grudge over. I myself am an incredibly forgetful person when it comes to most things, so I really can't in good conciseness anyway. 1 "Let the steel of my resolve be not bested by the sum of my fears." Creamy Arty 6,252 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 I do my best (which is sometimes not very good) to remember other people's birthdays, but it doesn't bother me if they forget mine. I forget my own birthday almost every year until my mom or someone reminds me of it. Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Marelin 38 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 Is it fair to expect everyone you're friends with to remember your birthday? Should you get offended or question a friend's loyalty if they forget? No at both of them. It doesn't matter if they forget it or not. Even I forget my own birthday. Its just a forced way for showing loyalty. True friendship, and bonds in general, are tested and established in everyday life, not just at some fixed and forced specific moment in time once a year. But really that's all it is...and I think it's weird we celebrate something we have no control over and something we never did I think it's a bit humorous and dramatic to say I have somehow ruined it for you ...oh well! adios :-)
