himanuts 165 February 8, 2013 Share February 8, 2013 Hasbro needs to remember why they asked Lauren to help with the franchise in the first place. The latest developments seem to point out they've forgotten. As to her reasoning for leaving. Well, considering Wonder Over Yander is coming out later this year, the show is working on with Craig, there's that. I guess she's still pushing forward to finally get a wide release for Galaxy Girls. And if I recall, I think she said somewhere something about not enjoying the block in creative freedom Hasbro seemed to pose at times.
Phaeston-e12 173 February 8, 2013 Share February 8, 2013 There's a fair amount of evidence to suggest that there indeed was an internal conflict between Mrs. Faust and Hasbro over how the series should head. Mrs. Faust's comment about intentionally not watching the episode due to personal reasons, her surprise over Cadence being revealed to be an alicorn, her exclusion from the series of developer interviews which were included in the MLP:FiM DVD (I recall EqD commenting about this and talking about Mrs. Faust's apparent disappointment over her exclusion) are some of the examples. Anadu Kune 668 February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 (edited) Always been isn't the same as it is now. Hasbro's politics were kept out of the show by Lauren and her writers; with her gone, Hasbro's influence is increasingly detrimental to the series. The writers are already in a deficient for development because Lauren hosted the entirety of the process in Season 1, and held onto influence in Season 2; the more time that passes, the less FiM remains in the show. We're already seen Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie's characterizations take a nose drive since Lauren left, especially season 3 Fluttershy; she's now presented as a 3 way switch between shyness-calmness-anger, without any of the balance, or pacing that kept Season 1 Fluttershy in perfection. Couple all the factors, and more Hasbro influence will cripple the show.(bolded because it refused to go into a quotation box for some reason)That seems to me a huge overstatement We dont know exactly how much influence she had in season two other than that she oversaw the stories. Season one is the only season where we know she had full influence. This is just speculation, and based on things I and i think many others would say are not happening. Quite a few loved Too Many Pinkies, and I for one see it as a great character episode for her. In fact I wrote a whole topic going over it. The only huge misstep for her(and im not sure its actually that huge) is in Wonder Bolt Academy in her obsessive nature over Rainbow. The only big potential misstep I have seen for Fluttershy this season has been In Magical Duel, and MA Larson explained that his logic for writing it was that the pressure had gotten to her. This had nothing to do with Hasbro. I think its a huge overstatement to say it was a nose dive for the characters. The only character I think that would have applied to would be spike for Spike at Your Service. However I think Corey Powell did great with him. Even if this were the case that the characters took nose dives it has more to do with the writters and not Hasbro. Hasbro does not need leniency, they own the show. If they are dead set on making a decision it will be made. Its happened before and it will continue. By your own logic this is true as you seem to think Lauren left because of Hasbro interference showing that despite her presence hasbro still could make a decision. I dont think thats why she left at the very least its not the entire reason. That last statement doesnt seem to be backed by evidence It has been shown that they made such decisions in season 1, and if what you believe about her leaving is true then her presence in the regard of such decisions didnt matter because she couldn't change them. It's widely known the CMC weren't an original design of Lauren; but were they were a design of Lauren, not Hasbro. It was only at the request of Hasbro that Applebloom have friends; everything was left to Lauren's creativity. At this point, Hasbro is openly declaring new characters without any word from the writers; you don't think that will increase with time? Considering that Scootaloo and Sweetiebelle were ponies of the previous generation and their color scheme is very similar it defiantly seems they were inserted especially since we know they are only in the show because of a suggestion by Hasbro. Once again they wanted something in the show. They don't seem to care how it is put in just that it gets put in. Lauren managed to find a meaningful way to put them in. Also seeing as many of the MLP g4 toys were using the same molds as g3 it seems like a sound marketing move by them. Before people say Rainbow is another case of this, she isnt. Lauren wanted Firefly but hasbro lost the rights to that tradmark. Lauren then picked a name and made a character based off the personality traits of firefly. The original rainbow dash and g4 rainbow barely look even reminiscent of each other. Lets not forget the original Rainbow dash always dresses in style. Derpy was canned because of Hasbro, not because of writers. You can't argue what Lauren would have done; that's heresay that we can't speculate on, because it came 9 months after she left. Hasbro was concerned of the backlash that could have strung around Derpy; one crazed parent group that decides not to mind their own business and sticks it's head into a show can cost a company considerable amounts of money, an investment to fans Hasbro is not willing to make. Why then did you claim that if Lauren were still on the show that wed probably still have Derpy? I made a point to say that it was a "what if" statement and that we have no real way of knowing. Yes of course it was Hasbros decision, one of many they have made concerning the show, some work out some dont. I dont agreee with them at all in this case, and in others. Lauren, being a professional, and a kind hearted individual, is too polite to bring up the real reason she left. Lauren would never go against Hasbro in some media frenzy to discredit a major corporation; it's too big a damage to her, and it wouldn't accomplish anything. If Lauren had publically stated she left FiM because Hasbro had interfered with her show, she's just be seen as an artsy bitch by Hasbro, and that image would spread far and wide. There would be nothing to gain from Lauren saying her real reasons to quit, only things for her, and her show, to lose. She had other projects to work on, and she might even try to consider that was a silver lining to the whole fiasco; but it's not the reason she quit, and she knows that too. This again is something you cant say with certainty. Its not something of stated fact, as such Im not willing to take it as evidence of anything as we cant know this is the case. It is merely a theory. Another theory is that she left to work on other projects. She has been working on Wander Over Yonder for quite some time now. A time I think would probably match up quite nicly with her departure from MLP. Not only that but she is working on it with her husband. Being so majorly involved with a show as she was with MLP takes a ton of work and time, and can consume ones life. It is likley she she wanted to spend more time with those she cared for and what better way than to work on the same project together. Again a theory but one that works just as well. In any case im not ready to say one way or another. Assuming the perspective of another is not somthing that should be done. I think its being done with Lauren far too much recently. Collector(GameDev) 34 February 10, 2013 Share February 10, 2013 It's because Lauren went to help her husband on Wander Over Yonder, which is on Disney Channel. So if she wanted to help him, she would have to leave the Hub. -Collector GameDev of Collector Productions and Fanwork critic Artist who wants to work on a project?
