Ponykart (help thread)

Recommended Posts

I have tried 6 different programs, and none of them have worked, microsoft visual studio almost worked, but I do not feel like paying for the "professional" version, it just isnt worth it. I never expected to say this, but: I GIVE UP!

So currently, I have worked on this for a few days now, and I am stumped. I have posted a few places, to no avail, to get help with this, and while I somewhat expect the same results (no offense bronies) I decided to try the community for help.

To get ponykart to work, the guy who made it said I need to compile the source code. I have tried a few things, and so far nothing has worked, when i try to operate the debug on it, it says it cannot find the path to access it. I then tried a few other things, because i read i should turn it from a tar.gz to a .bz2 (or something like that).

If anyone can help, please do, and I do not mean to be rude, but please only post if you can help, or if you are having some kind of issue with this game. Check it out at www.ponykart.net you can download it from their links and mess around with it.

As a note, I am in no way affiliated with the team creating the game, I am just someone that ones to play it and isnt smarter than a computer.

1. Open the .tar.gz or whatever with a program such as WinRAR or 7-zip.

2. Extract the files and open them in a coding program such as Visual Studio 2010.

3. Click compile.

4. ??????

5. Profit

Is there a way I could test it too? :D

Yes, this is how you find the source code:

1) www.ponykart.net

2) on the side bar there, look for the link that says "sourceforge"

3) go to the summary tab.

4) click the button in the summary tab that says "Browse Code"

5) Then at the bottom of the folder list, click the link that says "Download GNU Tarball"

6) now you are where i am at. you should have it downloaded as a tar.zg

IT WORKS! THE DEBUG THAT CAME WITH IT DID NOT WORK, BUT THROUGH MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO PROFESSIONAL'S DEBUG, IT WORKS, I AM SO HAPPY, THE CONTROLS ARE A BIT LAGGY ON LEVELS WITH STUFF AROUND, BUT IN GENERAL IT IS GREAT. Do not ask me to post videos or screen shots, because the guy that made it said dont do that, sorry

where exactly did you run the Microsoft program

or when may be more appropriate actually

I ran it from my desktop? i googled "microsoft visual studio" and for the microsoft link, i clicked professional from the google menu, you can do a free trial from that. Since I figured out the problem though, the debug that came with it didnt work, I am working on another way to work it.

Soo confused. If you get it to work, can you just upload it and link?

No, i cant, because it is a separate program used to make it, the game itself doesnt come with a .exe, so you have to use a different program to run it, like microsoft whatever i said up t here
