I've been a hypocrite regarding Princess Twilicorn

Back before I got into My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I was actually enamored by the idea of normal, low-level people rising up to leadership status, namely through means of helping others in-need--in other words, Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. I enjoyed the Mass Effect trilogy because it was about a space-marine eventually rising to leadership status, starting with a small team of soldiers, biotics, and engineers, and eventually ending with the entire galaxy in-general. It was also why I enjoyed Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Gurren Lagann, because all three were about low-level nobodies learning about and rising to leadership. I like the concept of leadership, because it's what allows one person (or pony, in MLP's case) to help out countless more people with their lives, and eventually guiding them to a better future. Sure, leadership is overwhelming, because it means juggling between over millions of other people's problems, but it's either that, or a bad/nonexistent future for those millions.

Unfortunately, while I enjoyed that kind of story, apparently I didn't like it when applied to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Even if it was applied well, I still don't want Princess Twilicorn to intrude upon the show. I guess, really, the reason why I didn't like Twilicorn is simply because MLP: FiM was a children's cartoon, meaning that its intended audience--that of little girls--wouldn't understand the concept of leadership and how people become leaders. I mean, at a young age, little girls shouldn't be able to know how hellish leading an entire nation could be until they're much older. It's almost like the equivalent of exposing those same little girls (and boys, too) to post-modern philosophy, in that they won't be able to understand because they're too young and inexperienced. Plus, I'm too accustomed to Twilight as a studious unicorn with friends, as well as a same-species counterpart to Rarity, just as Applejack is one to Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy another to Rainbow Dash.

But perhaps I should've listened to the pro-Twilicorn's arguments, and understood that Princess Twilicorn would be a great benefit to Equestria and its citizens. Just as it was a benefit to have one human space-marine help every alien species put aside their differences, and unite not only to defeat the Reapers, but also to build a better future for each other. Twilight was so considerate and wise to her friends, that she was practically (and literally) a leader to them. Every time they had problems, they went to Twilight to resolve them, though not all the time (especially in Season Two, after Lesson Zero). That means that if Twilight is capable of leading five ponies her age and gender (as well as Ponyville with Winter Wrap-Up), then she might as well lead an entire nation of over seven-million ponies, even if seven-million isn't as personal as just five. And, I'm sure that she'll lead Equestria into a better, stronger future, especially if her friends guide her along the way like always. :(

This is why I'm very sorry for constantly ranting and raving about how it's a bad thing, and even went far as to take other people's opinions as either personal-attacks or undeniable facts, when really, they are neither. Granted, I don't know if all the positive things I've said about Princess Twilicorn will be true or not, not only because Season Four isn't out yet, but also because said positive things are also just rumors and speculation. After all, if people like you guys are constantly saying that it would be permanent as well as a good thing for Twilight to become a princess, in the end, this stuff is still speculation, because all of you, even the die-hard pro-Twilicorns, don't know how Season Four will play out like I do.

But for now, all I need to know is that Twilight's promotion to alicorn princess may be for the better, not just for herself and her friends, but for all of Equestria, too. I mean, if I have no problems with Commander Shepard leading every race in the galaxy (and not just his/her squad) to a better future, then why do I have problems with Princess Twilicorn?

And again, I'm sorry for being angry and in denial.

Thank you for your heart-felt apology. This of course goes as further evidence that it wasn't a big deal (But more importantly, that I'm always right).

Well, at the very least, there is always (1) the comics, (2) the Equestria Girls spin-off and its humanized ponies, (3) trying to collect all six Funrise plush-dolls of the Mane Six (seven, if I were to count an alicorn Twilight doll), and (4) other things besides ponies, such as Mass Effect 3 and the upcoming third season of Transformers Prime. I can't say I agree with little girls not understanding leadership I think we don't give children enough credit, they can understand concepts far more complex than people often give them credit for. That is one of the things I have really appreciated about this show is that the lessons are simple enough for even young children to understand yet are profound enough to where adults can also apply them.

I don't see your statements as hypocritical though yes stories about people or in this case ponies rising up to take the reigns of leadership if done right can be compelling and inspiring but so far the twilicorn concept has been very poorly handled with a rushed season finale which aside from the ending had very little to do with alicorn Twilight in the first place making it feel like an afterthought. I can't speak for you as to why you are against it but I can speak for myself that I feel it is too soon as risks Twilight becoming too powerful too quickly which brings her close to Mary Sue territory. However despite the premature nature of this change and its poor handling in the season finale I still have hope that it can still work out and so long as Hasbro lets the writers do their jobs it probably will work though with a hickup or two along the way.

You shouldn't feel the need to apologize for thinking it's a bad idea.  I think it could affect the dynamic of the show in a bad way, and while it doesn't mean it *will* happen, I think it may be enough to give us pause for concern.

If you're going to say sorry for the way you behaved, that's one thing, but if it's for your opinion and thoughts on the matter, don't.  There is no right or wrong on this issue, it is all speculation.

Another reason I was upset was because I felt it could've been saved for the series finale, like in Codename: Kids Next Door, Operation: INTERVIEW, when Numbuh One was promoted to galactic KND but had to say goodbye to his friends and teammates. However, it was too early, and I believe even the writers know this. I can't speculate on how they'll handle this, or if it's temporary or permanent, because as usual, it's too early, and I might end up going into an angry, insane rant like always every time I'm faced with an opposing viewpoint.

I was going to post something clever, but I can't think of anything :P.

But it takes a whole ton of guts to say that you where wrong in your opinion of something, us humans don't exactly take being wrong as our first choice.

So kudos to you bro. :D, gimme a hug :) *hugs*

I only read the title.

Congratulations on your self-enlightment.

Hence forth, may you not judge anything without first understanding your position of credit to judge said thing.

No words are greater than mine and every word already is, Hypocrisy.

I say that I can accept that everyone is of their own decisions.
Simply so that I may judge you all the way I want through the way you think.
When you proclaim that all have their right to opinion, understand that you are placing this claim above their opinions.
Hypocrisy isn't a sin. It isn't rude. It isn't wrong. It isn't right.
It's how we live our lives, down to every word spoken.

Well, I admit I am surprised.  It takes a lot to write all that and display it on a forum.  Being one of the first ones to argue about this, I have to say that what offended me more than anything else was how closed minded you seemed, as well as how hard you seemed to try to convince everybody that your opinion was the right one.  Worse still when I could tell that you really were getting angry over this.  That level of obsession is never healthy.

The truth is, we can't know for certain how Alicorn twilight will affect the over all feel of the show.  What happened to twilight is relatively small, when you think about it. I mean, yes she is a very important character, seemingly the main character  for season 1.  But between season 2 and 3, there were 5 episodes where she didn't show up at all. Twilight's change will change things, but nowhere near as drastically as you may have thought. If it is a good or a bad thing, nobody really knows yet.

So here is what I'm gonna do:  when season 4 starts, I'm  just going to watch it expecting it to be like any other MLP episode: a group of close friends learning about life and friendship together.
